Treasuring Jesus Christ and inviting others to do the same

“THE IMAGE OF GOD IN THE HANDS OF MAN” GENESIS 4 (Verses 17–22, 25–26 give the main idea)

Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch. To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad fathered Mehujael, and Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushael fathered Lamech. And Lamech took two wives. The name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe. Zillah also bore Tubalcain; he was the forger of all instruments of bronze and iron...And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, “God has appointed for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.” To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the name of the LORD. PSALM 73 (Whole chapter, but focus on verses 3, 13, 14, 28)

[3] For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked…[13] All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence. [14] For all the day long I have been stricken and rebuked every morning…[28] But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

MATTHEW 5:3–12

WHAT DO WE DO?

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth…Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

What action does God call us to based on these verses? How should who God is, what God has done, and who we are (see above) shape the way we live?
