a. waive, release, and discharge from any and all liability for participant’s death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any kind which may hereafter accrue to participant and his/her estate, the State of South Dakota, and its officers, agents and employees; and b. indemnify and hold harmless the State of South Dakota, and its officers, agents and employees from and against any and all liabilities and claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of participant’s participation or actions during this activity or event. The undersigned further consents to and authorizes medical treatment to the participant, which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident or illness during this activity or event. This release and waiver shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law. All individual campers and first place teams in each team camp bracket will receive a camp t-shirt.
Camp Gear All campers are encouraged to wear or bring appropriate training gear. Overnight campers are expected to bring their own towels, linens, pillows, blankets or sleeping bag as well as bathroom articles and other clothes as desired. Extra spending money may be helpful also.
Check-Ins All check-ins will take place in the main lobby of the Donald E. Young Center on the BHSU campus.
Facilities BHSU Volleyball Camps take place at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center on campus. Included are three wooden volleyball courts in the gym and three volleyball sport courts in the field house.
Insurance Each camper must be covered by their own accident and medical insurance.
Meals & Housing Nutritious all-you-can-eat meals are planned and provided by BHSU Dining Services. Meal options include a Mongolian-style grill, salad bar, brick oven pizza, and more. Meals are included in the registration for high school individual camp only. Overnight campers will reside in BHSU’s campus residence halls. Refunds Black Hills State University allows no refunds due to personal injury, any conflicting camps or tournaments, vacations, etc. Deposits will not be refunded.
Registration Campers can register online at www.YellowJacketSportsCamps.com or mail in a registration form. Walk-up campers will be welcome on the first day of camp for the individual training and youth skills camps. Please make checks payable to BHSU Volleyball. Team Camp Registration: Please be sure to contact Kristin Carmichael directly (email/phone) to ensure your team is registered for team camp. If you mailed in a registration form, please follow up via email/phone to confirm registration.

Young Athletes Skills Camp
BHSU Head Coach
July 13-14
Coach Carmichael is in her eighth season with the Yellow Jackets and fourth year as head coach. Her coaching stint comes after a very successful volleyball career at BHSU. Carmichael was a three-time NAIA All-American for the Yellow Jackets and can be found in the all-time record books 20 times. She earned numerous all-conference and all-region honors. In 2008 she was DAC Player of the Year followed by Most Valuable Senior in 2009. Carmichael was a second team All-American in 2008 and finished her career as a first team All-American in 2009. Carmichael helped lead the Jackets to DAC Championships in 2008 and 2009 and to two NAIA National Tournament appearances. Carmichael finished her career with .404 season hitting efficiency, setting a Dakota Athletic Conference record.
Korie Lebeda BHSU Assistant Coach Lebeda is in her third year with the Yellow Jackets after a two-year stint with Wayne State College as a graduate assistant. Prior to her time at WSC, Lebeda served four years as an assistant coach at Papillion-La Vista High School and worked locally at the Volleyball Academy in Omaha. In her playing days, she was a standout for Creighton University where she was named All-Missouri Valley Conference three times. She was a 2014 inductee into the Creighton Hall of Fame. Lebeda played professionally for the Voley Murcia team in Murcia, Spain, in 2009 and played for the Great Plains Tornados semi-pro team through USA Volleyball.
