Use (1) dark and (1) light fabric. Fabrics are listed in order of use. A - (8) squares, 1 ½" x 1 ½" (DARK) B - (8) squares, 1 ½" x 1 ½" (LIGHT) C - (2) squares, 3 1⁄4" x 3 1⁄4" (LIGHT) D - (2) squares, 3 1⁄4" x 3 1⁄4" (DARK) E - (1) square, 2 ½" x 2 ½" (DARK) -------------------------------------------------------Assembly A 1. Sew (2) A squares and (2) B squares together into strips, as shown; press toward A. Sew the strips together and press seam in one direction. Make (4) Unit #1. 2. Draw a diagonal line, corner to corner, on the wrong side of (1) C square and place on (1) D square; pin in place. Stitch 1⁄4" seam allowance on each side of drawn line. Cut in half and press toward D. Make (4) pieced squares.
3. Draw a diagonal line, corner to corner, on the wrong side of (1) pieced square from Step 2 and place on second pieced square with right sides together and opposite fabrics facing. Sew a 1⁄4" seam allowance on each side of drawn line. Cut in half and press seams open. Make (4) Unit #2.
4. Lay out Unit #1’s, Unit #2’s, and E square, as shown. Sew into rows; press each row in opposite direction. Sew rows together (press open) to create the Ohio Star Variation block measuring 6 ½" square.
