Mayor Barrett is recognized as a national leader on urban sustainability, and has won two Climate Protection Awards from the US Conference of Mayors. He has enacted his vision for a more sustainable and competitive Milwaukee by establishing the Office of Environmental Sustainability, which has helped hundreds of businesses and homeowners improve their buildings through energy efficiency. He is leading on sustainable economic development through major redevelopments downtown, in the Menomonee Valley, 30th Street Industrial Corridor, & neighborhood commercial districts. He is also fostering new transportation options. He is committed to helping existing buildings become more competitive through energy efficiency. He is leading by example and has committed to cutting energy use in the city's 117 municipal buildings by 20% by the year 2020. This luncheon will provide you with valuable tools and resources to help you invest in your buildings to reduce operating costs while making them more attractive to tenants. This includes the City's innovative PACE financing program that recently supported a $660,000 retrofit at the University Club.
