Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS): 1. Where can I see the proposed plan for North Rock Creek School’s construction project? Go to: www.nrc.k12.ok.us 2. How much will a $20,910,000 Bond Issue Cost? A resident who paid $100 in property taxes last year will pay about $1.75 per month more. The effect on property tax is demonstrated by the following chart: Impact to the Taxpayer ___________________________________________________________ Current New Monthly Annual Tax Amount Tax Amount Increase Increase ___________________________________________________________ $100 $121 $1.75 $21 3. When was the last time North Rock Creek School put a bond issue on the ballot? The last bond issue put before and approved by voters was in 2010 for a new middle school. The 2010 bond issue is set to expire as of 2021. The new bond issue will be a renewal of the current outstanding bond. 4. Why does North Rock Creek School need a new High School? Currently students leave North Rock Creek School after the 8th grade and receive 9th-12th education in surrounding community high schools. The North Rock Creek Community of students, faculty and parents submitted surveys to request a new high school at 95.6% support. A new North Rock Creek High School would allow educational opportunities to continue for students throughout their PK-12th grade years all at North Rock Creek School. Facilities are necessary to expand these educational opportunities through the 12th grade. 5. How does the proposed bond issue affect the current school sites? Current 6th-8th grade students will be able to utilize the new cafeteria, library-media center, STEM lab, band and Vo-Ag facilities. Currently they utilize facilities at the elementary site across campus. A new high school would free up facility space across the campus and help keep up with district growth. 6. How does the proposed bond issue affect student achievement? A new high school allows students attending North Rock Creek School School to continue educational opportunities through 12th grade. These educational opportunities would continue in modern, 21st century classrooms with advanced technology, and provide for future projected student growth. Research has shown a correlation between quality facilities and student achievement.
