Boxing Class Syllabus Instructor: Chris Bruce BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Come and learn the “sweet science” of Boxing! This class will introduce you to the basic techniques used in this ancient Olympic sport and get you in great condition at the same time. Improve your jabs, crosses bob and weaves, hooks and learn how to move your feet like Muhammad Ali! There will not be any live sparring in the Boxing Instructional Class at any point. LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR STUDENTS:    

WEEKLY CLASS OUTLINE: Week 1: Stances and footwork - step and slide Basic punches (single attacks) - jab, cross, hook, uppercut, overhands, Week 2: Defense - bob and weave, ducking, slipping, covers Week 3: Basic hand combinations - jab+cross+hook, jab+hook+cross, cross+hook+cross Week 4: Basic hand combinations - Jab+cross+uppercut, overhand+uppercut+overhand Week 5: Focus mitt training (Cross counters) - shoulder roll, elbow deflection, bob and weave, swayback, ducking, slip left slip right Week 6: Focus mitt training (Hook counters) - cover, bob and weave, cover and jab Week 7: Glove drills - catch drills, cover drills, slipping drills Week 8: Review of the basics
