2017 Volleyball Camps

Liability Waiver In consideration of Colorado School of Mines making arrangements for and permitting and assisting Camper to take part in this Camp, the undersigned Camper and Parent or Guardian, if appropriate, agree to hold harmless, release, indemnify and forever discharge Colorado School of Mines, and its Board of Trustees, officers, directors, employees, agents, and any persons acting on their behalf, as well as their heirs, executors and assigns, from and against any and all liability, claims, demands, costs and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with any bodily injury or property damage in any way relating to or arising out of Camper’s participation in the Camp, even if the liability, claims, demands, costs and expenses may arise, in whole or in part, out of the negligence or carelessness of the persons or entities mentioned above. The Camper and Parent or Guardian are aware that the Camp may include certain risks and dangers. The Camper and Parent or Guardian understand that specific risks vary depending on the level and nature of the Camp, and can range from minor personal injuries such as scratches, bruises, and sprains to major injuries such as eye injuries and back or joint injuries, to catastrophic injuries resulting in paralysis or death. By signing this waiver, the Parent or Guardian is consenting to Camper’s participation in the Camp and acknowledges that he/she understands that any and all risk, whether known or unknown, is expressly assumed by Parent or Guardian and all claims, whether known or unknown, are expressly waived in advance. To the best of their knowledge, Camper and Parent or Guardian are not aware of any mental or physical disability or health-related reasons or problems that would hinder or otherwise prevent Camper from safely participating in the Camp. Camper and Parent or Guardian understand that they are solely responsible for any costs arising out of any bodily injury or property damage sustained through or arising from Camper’s involvement in the Camp. Further, the Parent or Guardian is responsible for all of Camper’s medical expenses. By signing this waiver, the Parent or Guardian gives permission is cases of Camper’s injury or illness to render emergency first aid and to make any necessary referral for treatment. Camper’s Parent or Guardian expressly agrees that this Liability Waiver Form is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Colorado, and that if any portion herein is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the balance shall continue in full legal force and effect. Camper’s Parent or Guardian has carefully read this Liability Waiver Form, understand the contents herein, and is executing it voluntarily of his/her own free will. Camper’s Parent or Guardian has had sufficient time to review and seek explanation of the provisions above, has carefully read them, understands them fully and agrees to be bound by them. Nothing in this waiver shall be construed to waive, limit, or otherwise modify any governmental immunity available to any of the persons or entities released herein under the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act, §24-10-101, et seq., C.R.S.

CAMP DIRECTOR & STAFF Camp Director Jamie Skadeland Jamie Skadeland begins her 10th season as the head volleyball coach - and 11th year overall - at Colorado School of Mines. Skadeland spent the 2007 season as an assistant coach for the Orediggers before taking over as the head coach in 2008. During her nine seasons at the helm, Skadeland has guided CSM to a 207-75 overall record (.734 winning percentage), as well as an 131-35 mark in RMAC matches (.789 winning percentage). Skadeland has guided CSM to four straight RMAC Conference Championship (2012-2015) and two back-to-back RMAC Tournament Championships. In 2016 the squad posted a 25-7 overall record, including a 15-3 mark in RMAC play. Mines once again spent the entirety of the campaign inside the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 poll and reached as high as No. 16 in the nationally ranking. The squad embarked on a eighth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 4 seed in the South Central Region. At season end, CSM boasted an All-South Central Tournament Selection, RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, MVP Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team member, four all-conference choices, four RMAC Players of the Week, two AVCA All-Region honorees. In February of 2009, Skadeland was selected to receive a Thirty Under 30 award from the AVCA, an honor which recognized the top 30 coaches under the age of 30 from all levels of the game. Skadeland, earned her master's degree in Sport Psychology at Minnesota State - Mankato.

Camp Coordinator Heather Roberts Heather Roberts begins her 10th season as an assistant volleyball coach at Colorado School of Mines in 2017. Roberts was named the AVCA Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year during the 2013 and 2014 campaign, as the Orediggers backed up their first-ever RMAC Volleyball Title in 2012 with a repeat performance in 2013, 2014 and 2015. During the 2012-13 academic year, Roberts was named to the AVCA's "Top Thirty Under 30" list, an honor which recognized the top 30 coaches under the age of 30 from all levels of the game Roberts completed her Master’s degree in Sports Studies through Bemidji State University in 2007.

Advanced Positional Camp July 26-28 Recommended for 10th-12th grade $295 Resident/$265 Commuter Check in 12:00pm – 1:00pm (July 26) Camp begins @ 1:30pm Ends @ 8:00pm (July 26) Camp begins @ 9:00am Ends @ 8:00pm (July 27) Camp begins @ 9:00am Check out 3:00pm (July 28) Setters: Setter’s camp will focus on overall technical training of hand position, footwork and body posture. Players will also be trained on set consistency, offensive and defensive strategy, reading, in-system and out-of-system sequences and attacking. Hitters: Hitter’s camp will focus on the development of the arm swing and footwork for a variety of offensive schemes (quick tempo, slides, play sets) with a 2-foot and 1-foot takeoff. This camp will also address hitting and blocking transition, ball and placement control at all positions, outside, middle, and right side hitters. Defensive Specialists/Liberos: Defensive specialist and libero camp will teach all components necessary to become a top defensive player (platform, body posture, footwork, eye sequencing, and defensive movement). Players will learn how to instill a strong defensive mindset that is a necessary component in becoming a top player in today's game.

CAMP INFORMATION Location and Facilities The Colorado School of Mines volleyball camps will be held at the air-conditioned Lockridge Arena in the Student Recreation Center, the historic Volk Gymnasium or the newly renovated Steinhauer Field House. The Colorado School of Mines is located in the heart of Golden, CO in the Rocky Mountains, 15 minutes west of Denver. Athletic training facilities are available during volleyball camp.

Registration Check in will be held in the Lockridge Arena in the Student Recreation Center. The Student Recreation Center is located at 1651 Elm St., Golden, CO.

Housing Residents will be housed in CSM resident halls. All housing is set up with 2 campers per room. Please request who you would like to room with on your registration no later than July 5th.

CSM Oredigger Camp Store & Camp Awards All campers will receive an official CSM Oredigger T-shirt. Additional items, such as apparel and camp volleyballs, will be available at the camp store! Team & Individual Awards will be given throughout and at the end of camp.

Commuters Pick up and drop off times: Camp ends July 26 at 8:00pm. July 27 camp begins at 9:00am and ends at 8:00pm. July 28 camp begins at 9:00am and ends at 3:00pm.

Food Commuters will be provided lunch and dinner and residents (staying in resident halls) will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner.

What To Bring Please bring gym shoes, socks, t-shirts, shorts, toiletries, towels. Residents also need to bring bedding: sheets, pillow, pillow cases and blankets. We recommend a fan for your room as well. The hallways are air-conditioned. If you are in All-Skills, Advanced All-Skills or Advanced Positional camp, please bring a swimsuit if you would like to swim Thursday night. Individual Camp Refund Policy: Any registration cancellations must be made a minimum of three (3) weeks prior to the first day of camp (July 5) for a full refund (minus the 5% credit card fee. Any cancellations after that date is a 50% refund. Medical emergencies with written doctor documentation are subject to a refund.
