NATURE OF THE WORK Non-Exempt An incumbent in this job class reports directly to the Chief Building Official and performs technical duties in enforcing building codes to ensure public safety and health. Includes code enforcement and other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE. ABILITIES. AND SKILLS Construction industry and extensive experience with the process of construction. The ability to work with contractors and the general public to interpret codes, read plans and specifications. The ability to prepare reports and maintain records EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must be licensed with the State of Utah as a combination inspector. Requires 2 years as a building inspector or in the building contracting trades at a journeyman level, and who must become licensed with the State of Utah as a combination inspector within 6 months after date of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Utah driver license. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Considerable walking and standing is required; Some light to medium physical effort may be required Selected applicant must pass a drug screening test, criminal background check, and driver license check prior to official offer of employment Lindon City is an Equal Opportunity Employer
