JANUARY 1, 2012 RE: SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL 2012 BURNABY LAKERS JUNIOR ‘A’ LACROSSE The Burnaby Lakers Jr. ‘A’ Lacrosse Club competes in the B.C. Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse League. The league consists of 8 teams from the Lower Mainland, Nanaimo, and Victoria that compete for the honor of a national championship, and the famed “Minto Cup”, Canada’s oldest sports award. The very best athletes under 21 years of age are featured, and many of these fine young men go on to star in the Western Lacrosse Association Senior A, and the professional Major Indoor Lacrosse leagues. The Minto Cup had eluded the Cablevision Lakers franchise for 10 years when the Burnaby Cablevision teams captured three straight cups in 1977‐78‐79. Since 1977 the Lakers/Cablevision won a total of 8 Minto Cups. They have been the BC champions for 12 straight years, from 1996 to 2007, a BC record. They made it to the BC finals in 2008 but were defeated in the fifth game of five to go to the Minto Cup. Many of the Burnaby Jr. A Lakers are successful graduates of a vibrant Burnaby Minor Lacrosse Association of approximately 500 players aged 4‐17. The Jr. ‘A’ Lakers are committed to representing Burnaby in an exemplary manner, to develop as individuals, and to be role models and support Burnaby Minor Lacrosse players and teams. The Jr. ‘A’ Lakers have been the most dominating Jr. ‘A’ lacrosse team in British Columbia history. The Burnaby Lakers Jr. ‘A’ Lacrosse Club is a non‐profit organization whose success is dependent on local community support. Sponsorship funding goes directly to the team. Four levels of corporate sponsorship packages offering outstanding value are available, as detailed in the enclosed information. By sponsoring us, we’ll profile your company as a business leader in the Lower Mainland and an active supporter of our community.
