February 2017 Trump’s “Two for One” Regulation Order Excludes SEC, Maybe All of Dodd-Frank The White House clarified that Trump’s January 30 “two for one” Executive Order doesn’t apply to the SEC and other independent regulatory agencies, Reuters reported. Despite press coverage, the Order doesn’t actually require the elimination of two regulations for every new one issued. Instead, it requires executivebranch agencies to “identify at least two existing regulations” for every new one issued and then eliminate existing regulatory costs at the 2:1 ratio. Bill Schifino Tapped by Senate President Joe Negron to Serve on the Constitution Revision Commission In an article published on February 15, 2017 in the Tampa Bay Times, Bill Schifino is mentioned for being chosen to serve on the Constitution Revision Commission, where he will be revising the state constitution to reform state education laws. Schifino was one of nine people to be chosen by Senate President Joe Negron to serve on this council. Schifino is the current president of The Florida Bar for 20162017 and the Tampa managing partner at Burr.
Court Rejects Lender’s Objection to Payment of Debtor’s Counsel’s Fees and Expenses from Pre-Petition Retainer In a decision rendered on December 30, 2016, the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of Florida addressed the debtor’s counsel’s interim application for an award of fees and expenses for services rendered to the debtor and its bankruptcy estate, as well as a secured creditor’s objections to the same.
Bill will be part of a 37-member group tasked with revising the state constitution to reform state education laws. The Commission includes 15 appointees by the Governor, nine each by the Speaker of the House and Senate President, and three by the Supreme Court Chief Justice and the Attorney General.
