In simple terms, each well is allotted a total of 60 inches (base allocation) of water per certified acre over a 5 year period. The new 5 year period is for 2013-2017 crop years. From the previous 5 year period, the farm has carry over water of 7.48 inches per certified irrigated acre which would give the farm an “adjusted base allocation” of 67.48 inches per certified irrigated acre. 2013 has been designated as a “Compact Call Year”. The “hard cap” 2013 allocation per recently adopted rules and regulations will be 18% of the adjusted base allocation or 12.14 inches per certified irrigated acre.
