2015 CALIFORNIA CUP WEEKEND EVENT October 24th and 25th in Carmel, California
California Section members come out and join the fun in Carmel for the 9th Annual California Cup, the last weekend of October. We have a great weekend planned with activities and golf events suitable for all levels of golfers. We have the social events for any non-golfing guests who would like to join us as we celebrate the continuing growth of EWGA and Women’s Golf in California. THERE IS FUN FOR EVERYONE, so bring your family, golfing or non-golfing friends for a fun weekend in Carmel and on the Monterey Peninsula. The weekend event starts with a social activity on Friday evening at the Rancho Canada Golf Club. This activity provides an opportunity for all California Section members and guests to meet and network with the Chapter leaders and members from all of the California Chapters. This activity will start at 5:00 pm with check-in. A Rules Meeting for team captains will be held at 5:30 pm. (Note: team members are welcome to participate in the rules meeting). The no-host bar will open at 5:00 and the buffet dinner of Salmon and Prime Rib will begin serving at 6:30 pm. The golf activities have been established to be inclusive of all skill levels of our members and guests. The cup tournament is match play patterned after the Solheim Cup using the same formats over the two days. The event will be held at Rancho Canada Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday morning with an 8:30 am shotgun start scheduled for each day. Each Chapter can select up to twelve (12) members to represent them in this event. Each team member will play to their respective October 15th Index and their team captain will determine which member plays each format. Each team member is required to play both competitive rounds. On Saturday morning, the Foursomes (Alternate Shot) and Four Ball (Team Best Ball) formats will be played. On Sunday morning, all matches will be Singles. Each match, on both days, will be valued at one (1) point. The winner of a match will gain one (1) point for their respective Chapter. If the match ends in a draw, each Chapter will earn ½ point. The California Cup will be awarded to the Chapter that earns the most match points. The Tournament Committee will do the pairings for each match and will ensure that the handicap difference between competitors is minimized. The maximum allowable handicap index for a team member is 32 and any player with a higher index will play down to a 32. On Saturday, a “Fun Golf Event” has been planned at Rancho Canada Golf Club (West Course) for those members and guests who are not competing in the California Cup, but have come to Carmel/Monterey for the golf and social networking opportunities with the other members and guests. This is a competitive activity and will be a low net stroke play event with awards for lowest gross, lowest net and closest to the pin. competitions. Tee times will be a sequential start. Carts and range balls are included in the tournament fees. In order to provide members with flexibility in selection of the events in which they wish to participate, the pricing has been bundled into a tournament package and a “fun golf” package. Additionally, the food has been separated so that non-golfing guests who may be more interested in the events in Carmel or Monterey can participate in selected social events. Fee Structure: Tournament Competitor: $295.00 includes two rounds of golf at Rancho Canada Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday mornings with cart, range balls and the Friday evening Reception, Saturday afternoon buffet luncheon and the Sunday awards luncheon. “Fun Golf” Participant: $210.00 includes one round of golf at Rancho Canada Golf Club on Saturday morning with cart and the Friday evening Reception, Saturday afternoon buffet luncheon and the Sunday awards luncheon. Non-tournament Golfer playing Rancho Canada Golf Club on both Saturday and Sunday: $295.00 and includes cart, range balls and the Friday evening Reception, Saturday afternoon BBQ buffet and the Sunday awards luncheon.
