WINNERS!
2016 London Cycling Awards Best Borough Infrastructure Scheme
WINNER: Tavistock Place, Camden
We were delighted to see Camden has been a winner in this year’s London Cycling awards. The newly-‐widened Tavistock Place cycle tracks are still on trial, however and we will need YOUR support when the scheme’s permanent implementation goes out to consultation later in the year. We would hate to lose the results of many years of hard work to the shouts of vocal anti-‐ cyclists!

Thanks! We will need one or two dynamic and able volunteers to take on the many rôles of this post -‐ liaising with Council, speakers, & membership, organising events, co-‐ordinating campaigns etc. Please contact us via the website if you feel able to help. Keeping up the Pressure
Thames Towpath Ride Geoff led a glorious ride from Sidings, through Hammersmith and Barnes, up toChiswick and back His full, illustrated report is on http://tinyurl.com/zweogz9
Boris opened two Superhighways, the day after the mayoral election. The opening was a deliberately low-‐key affair to deter the attendance of antagonists. The new Mayor is not the active cyclist Boris was and is more likely to cave in to pressure from anti-‐cyclists and it’s essential that all the achievements of the last few years are sustained and augmented. Sadiq Khan signed up for ‘Sign for Cycling’ and we must hold him to that. The new Super highways are proving very successful and we must strive to get many more built. Websites Our website has had a makeover and now features many up-‐to-‐date news items in the ‘News from Elsewhere’ section on the front page. Thank you, Steve for keeping us all abreast of developments! The Cycling Embassy of Great Britain has a new myth-‐ busting site http://cyclingfallacies.com/en/ to help dispel common fallacies about cycling, cyclists and infrastructure
This looks like a very useful tool. Cyclehack.com is an international movement which holds multi-‐day events during which participants work on developing tools to overcome barriers to cycling. We were privileged to have Eliza Shaw address our AGM about a forthcoming CycleHack in London from 24-‐26 June.
Here’s hoping for many more sun-‐soaked summer rides!
