CAMP INSTRUCTORS

Daniel Caulfield - Head Track & Field / Cross Country Coach Having had the good fortune of being coached, taught, and employed by several World Class coaches, Caulfield has coached numerous national champions and All-Americans. Having degrees in Exercise Physiology and Human Performance from Adams State University, Caulfield attributes most of his coaching ability to Dr. Joe I Vigil - US Olympic Distance Coach, Damon Martin - 30 time NCAA Coach of the Year, and Jim Kilty - multiple time Irish Olympic Coach. As an athlete Caulfield was a 10-time All-American and 4-time National Champion, and former Irish National Record for the indoor 800m.

CAMP SPEAKER Billy Mills - Olympic Gold Medalist

Former World Record Holder Billy Mills is the only American to ever win the Olympic 10,000 meter race. Billy was a star athlete at Kansas and a virtual unknown on the international scene when he won the 1964 Olympic title in Tokyo, Japan. During the Olympic final, Billy passed the 5km point only two seconds off his 5km PR, but still had over three miles left to race! His winning time of 28:24 was almost 50 seconds faster than his previous best. Billy’s victory is considered by many experts to be the greatest upset victory in Olympic history. In 1983, a Hollywood movie was made about his life called Running Brave and in 2012 he received the Presidential Citizens Medal. Billy, and his story, are extremely motivating and inspiring. Don’t miss the chance to meet one of the greatest U.S. Olympians of all time.
