May 2015 Dear Parent/Carer As part of our transition week at Thornaby Academy we are thrilled to be able to invite those students who are attending our Academy in September 2015, for five days of exciting activities between Monday 29th June and Friday 3rd July. Included in the five days are three days at the Academy and two days off-site. The first is an Outdoor Activity/Enterprise Day, the second day is being run by Teesside University our lead sponsors and they are delighted to invite students to take part in a Workshop Day at the University. Outdoor Activity/Enterprise Day This will take place on Wednesday 1st July 2015 student need be in school for 8.35am and return by 2.45pm. Students will spend half of their day on site at the Academy engaged in Enterprise activities, the remainder of the day with Outdoor Ambition taking part in watersports. There will be no charge for the visit and all activities will be coordinated by staff from Outdoor Ambition Ltd. (www.outdoor-ambition.co.uk/), which is a local, well established activity provider all instructors are fully qualified. Workshop Day will take place on Thursday 2nd July 2015 students will leave the academy on Thursday at 9:00am and return at 3:00pm. The day is entitled, ‘Mission X’. The theme will be based around space travel and astronauts! Transport and lunch will be provided.
Please complete and return the attached consent forms for the above activities to your child’s current Year 6 teachers before 15th June 2015. Lunches will be provided throughout the week for all students on FSM. For students wishing to purchase a school meal the cost is approximately £2.10 per day. A packed lunch will be needed for some students on Wednesday, however those students will be informed. Again those students eligible for a free school meal will have one provided. All students will have lunch provided on Thursday. To end the week that we have with the Year 6 students we would like to have a Celebration event on Friday 3rd July, starting at 1.45pm. We would like to invite all parents/carers to attend. If you wish to attend this event please complete and return the slip below. There will be limited seating, and we ask for a maximum of two guests per student. We will be seating guests from 1.30pm.
