U13 Div 1 v Vincents n
Our lads continued their great start to the season with a hard fought win over St. Vincents. Having to rejig our full back line due to the absence of our stalwart full back Joey McSweeney (get well soon Joey), we expected a tough challenge and were left in no doubt about that straight away, with Vincents hunting in packs with rucks developing on every breaking ball. Our lads stuck to the plan on moving the ball quickly to prevent Vincents from gaining possession. A strong 1st half performance saw us going into the half time team talk leading by 1-7 to 0-3.
n
On resumption Vincents really tried to force their way back into the game and a lucky goal for Vincents left us feeling nervous on the sideline but almost immediately up popped Gareth Kennedy for his 2nd goal for Sarsfields. We pushed on strongly from there and ran out winning by 5-10 to 1-8. Another team performance where it’s difficult to pinpoint standout performances but Gareth Kennedy (2-2), Finn Bruton, Joey Dunne, Rian Fortune, Adam Duffy and Liam Farrell all played well. Vincents only scored 1 score from play, which speaks volumes to how we defended but does leave room for improvement to reduce some of silly frees we are conceding. Next Game against Raheny on May 13th.

U14 Div 1 v Ballyboden St Endas
Tough start to the year continued with a game on Friday night versus current table toppers BBSE. A good start to game saw Lucan take the lead with two quick points from Cathal Britton and Hugh Cuffe , but Boden started to get on top in midfield and this eventually led to them going in at half time up by 4 points on a score of 1-10 to 1-6 , with Hugh Cuffe picking up our goal. The second half saw Lucan competing better , with us closing to within two points of Boden at one stage , but eventually Boden regained the advantage and ran out winners on a score line of 2-11 to 2-19. Lucan’s 2nd half goal came after a great run and shot by Adam Whyte. Scorer in chief Hugh Cuffe picked up a total of 1-8 on the night (0-7 from frees). The U14A followed this game on Friday evening , with a challenge against another St Endas ( Gorey, Wexford) on Sunday morning and put up a great display in running one of the top teams in Wexford to 4 points on a scoreline of 4-10 to 5-11. U15 Division 1 v Raheny
n
Lucan Sarsfields A 5-13 (28)
Raheny 0-09 (9)
n
Round 4 of the U-15 league offered up an exciting game in Saint Anne’s Park. With the injury list increasing, and numbers tight, Lucan faced a very capable Raheny side with the bare minimum of players available for selection. Raheny, newly promoted from Division2, started much better than their opponents and were fully determined to deliver a performance against Lucan on their home turf. With this determination Raheny raced into an early lead to register four points with no reply. Lucan responded after the slow start to register two goals in quick succession before subsequently tapping on additional points to lead at half-time on a score line of 2-06 to 0-6.
n
The second half commenced with the visiting team playing into a slight breeze and saw Lucan produce the style of hurling we are more accustomed to. Excellent defending and clinical ball into the forwards resulted in Lucan creeping further ahead on the scoreboard. Raheny battled well in the second half and were not willing to give up too easily. In fairness the final score did not reflect the home team’s performance or resilience on the day and but for more accurate shooting on Raheny’s behalf coupled with two very fortunate Lucan goals the score line could have been a lot closer.
n
Lucan Team: Jake Mooney, Daire Murphy, Ben O’Toole, Oisin Twamley, Mark Gormley, Cian Duffy, Declan Lawlor Jake Rooney, Charlie Keher, Eoin Power, Evin Dowling, Sean Balfe, Oisin Ryan, Finan Breen, Charlie Caseley, and Fintan Ward.
