U14 Div 6 v Ballinteer St John

This was our first outing for the season against an opposition who beat us twice last year.  Playing away on an Astro Pitch against Ballinteer things did not look good!! With a squad of 24 selecting 20 players was difficult.  Fielding only 13 players as Ballinteer were short, the team got off to a great start with a point from Joshua Brant, with the breeze this settled the lads. At half time they were 5-7 to 1-3 up the second half was always going to be a challenge against the wind but the team really dug in and defending well holding onto their lead winning with a score of 7-8 to 2-6. Stand out performances from James Ryan, Conall Morris, Cian Ryan, Dean Boylan and Lorcan O’Reilly. Squad:: Dean Boylan 0-2, Joshua Brant 1-2, Ryan Brant, Darragh Condron, Conor Cooper, Ryan Fahy 0-1, Eoin Fitzpatrick 0-1, Robert Hazley 0-1, Jamie Ivory, James Kenny, Cian McCormack, Conall Morris, Sean Norman, Noah O’Kelly 0-1, Lorcan O’Reilly 1-2, Cian Ryan 2-1, James Ryan, Daniel McCarthy.

U14 Div 1 v Kilmacud Crokes

The second game of a tough start to our league campaign , our first day reversal against last years winners Faughs was followed this week by a game against last years runners up Kilmacud Crokes. Our cause started to look harder during the week when we lost our first and second choice keepers plus another player to injury and illness., but Adam Gilmore stepped forward to ably man the goal for this game. A poor start , conceding a goal to a wind-assisted Crokes after 5 minutes wasn’t to plan but didn’t phase the team and they fought back through goals from Coogan and Britton , but still trailed by 9 after half time ( 2-3 to 4-6) . The big question on everyone’s mind as the team made their way to the team huddle was it a 9 point wind wind advantage. The resounding answer from the players at half-time was that they could and would overturn the deficit. The second half started nervously , with both teams sharing points . The Crokes point turned out to be their final score of the game as Lucan’s defense started to dominate. A kicked goal in a crowded goalmouth from O’Leary , added to points from Young , Coogan , Whyte , Cuffe and Harkness, slowly dragged Lucan level and eventually into the lead that they battled to retained for the last 5 minutes. The final whistle sounded shortly after and was meet with a a great sense of pride with overcoming a long standing bogey team. A great team performance with all players contributing. Team: Adam Gilmore (Capt) , Diarmuid Keher, Aidan Sheary, James Finn, Jamie Lavin, Michael Young, Sam Keogh, Hugh Cuffe, Cathal Britton, Brendan Kavanagh, Matthew Coogan , Adam Whyte, Neil O’Leary , Sean Harkness , Shane Coffey , Conor Hannon, Tony Mulqueen, Louis Butler , Daragh Burke - Injured : Justin Meyler, Cillian Morrissey and Cian Canavan

U16 Division 1 v Castleknock

This was our first competitive game of the year after round 1 of the league had been rained off and both players and mentors were looking forward to getting our season up and running. An away fixture to an always competitive and physical Castleknock team was the fixture. We started well in damp and heavy underfoot conditions keeping the Castleknock defenders busy. Both teams struggled with their 'first touch' which is to be expected this time of year. Gradually Lucan exerted their dominance and not before long, Ben Mullins had the ball buried in the opposing net after some great skill down the right. This set the tone and we gradually notched up the scores while Castleknock struggled to attack at the other end. We had a 3-8 to 1-5 lead at half time with Matt Dunne and Dylan Kelly also finding the net in the first half. We drove on in the second half, playing against the wind and the lads played some clever hurling, always trying to take the right option. Dylan found the net again in the second half before the score of the game came from fantastic work from Jack at half back who played a delightful ball up front before Dylan tapped it over. All players showed great intensity but also great discipline which was tested at times. The game finished 4-16 to 2-8 and it's two points on the table. Our next game is home to Boden on April 1st. Team: Luke Finnerty. David Donnelly. Cathal Shanahan. Philip Kane. Jack Lawless. Jyothin Joseph. Darragh Reid. Mark Lavin captain. Alex Hanley. Ben Mullins. Colm Behan. Alan Lynch. Brian O Sullivan. Matt Dunne. Dylan Kelly. Robert Maloney for Brian O Sullivan. Henry Keogh injured.
