Master Forest Owner Workshop: Managing Private Woodlots: Saturday, October 12: 8:30 a.m.4:30 p.m. Dutchess Farm and Home Center, Millbrook. State Sportsman Education Courses: Training in safe handling of firearms and hunting is a legal requirement for anyone hunting in New York. Hudson River Estuary Habitat Restoration Plan: The NYSDEC has released its draft “Habitat Restoration Plan” to help improve the estuary’s health as part of the Hudson River Estuary Program. Smart Location Database 2.0: EPA’s Smart Growth program has released a database of nationwide GIS data for measuring location efficiency that includes over 90 variables, such as employment and demographics at the census block group scale. EPA’s Smart Growth program provides resources, such as partnerships and grants to communities to help them expand economic opportunity and protect the environment and public health. Environmental Notice Bulletins for Dutchess County: Environmental Notice Bulletins include SEQR and related notices, SPDES renewals, and completed DEC applications, as well as other pertinent environmental notices for the county of Dutchess. SPDES (State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) receives applications to renew permits for SPDES. Under SPDES, the NYS DEC can control wastewater and stormwater discharges in compliance with the Clean Water Act.
