Cut each square on the diagonal once to yield a total of (68) HSTs (half-square triangles). 24556 K: Fabric D (gray poinsettia) Backing • Cut (2) 84" (LOF) strips. Remove selvages. Seam two strips together along the LOF (84"). Trim backing to measure 66" x 84".

24555 K: Fabric B (gray snowflake) • Fussy cut (18) 4¾" squares, centering 4¾" template plastic square over snowflake motif.

24557 Z: Fabric E (red/white scroll) Star Blocks • Cut (4) 3⅞" x WOF strips. Subcut (36) 3⅞" squares. Cut each square on the diagonal once to yield a total of (72) HSTs (half-square triangles). • Cut (2) 4¼" x WOF strips. Subcut (18) 4¼" squares. Cut each square on the diagonal twice to yield a total of (72) QSTs (quarter-square triangles). Pinwheel Blocks • Cut (5) 5⅜" x WOF strips. Subcut (34) 5⅜" squares. 5. Assemble Star Block. Referring to Diagram 5 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one Unit 2 between two Unit 1 for one Star Block. Star Block should measure 9½" square. Make a total of (18) Star Blocks. Diagram 5

2. Referring to Diagram 2 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one 3" Fabric G (red swirl) HST to each edge of the Fabric E (red/white scroll) HST of one F/E Unit for one F/E/G Unit. Make a total of (72) F/E/G Units.

Pinwheel Block 1. Referring to Diagram 6 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one 5⅜" Fabric E (red/white scroll) HST to one 5⅜" Fabric C (red snowflake) HST for one C/E Unit. C/E Unit should measure 5" square. Make a total of (68) C/E Units. Diagram 6

3. Unit 1. Referring to Diagram 3 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one F/E/G Unit between two 4¼" Fabric E (red/white scroll) QSTs for one Unit 1. Make a total of (36) Unit 1. Diagram 3

2. Referring to Diagram 7 and noting orientation of the units, arrange and sew four C/E Units together for one Pinwheel Block. Pinwheel Block should measure 9½" square. Make a total of (17) Pinwheel Blocks. Diagram 7

4. Unit 2. Referring to Diagram 4 and noting orientation of the pieces, sew one 4¾" Fabric B (gray snowflake)

Quilt Assembly Note: Refer to the Quilt Layout Diagram for the following steps.

Finishing 1. If not already done, prepare Fabric D (gray poinsettia) backing to measure 66" x 84".

1. Quilt Center Row 1. Noting orientation of the blocks, sew five blocks together in the following order: Star Block, Pinwheel Block, Star Block, Pinwheel Block, Star Block for Row 1. Row 1 should measure 9½" x 45½". Make a total of four Quilt Center Row 1.

2. Lay out the quilt top right side up on the top of the batting and the wrong side of the backing fabric.

2. Quilt Center Row 2. Noting orientation of the blocks, sew five blocks together in the following order: Pinwheel Block, Star Block, Pinwheel Block, Star Block, Pinwheel Block for Row 2. Row 2 should measure 9½" x 45½". Make a total of three Quilt Center Row 2.

4. Sew the eight 2½" x WOF Fabric A (gray/swirl poinsettia) strips together (end to end) using 45° seams to make a continuous strip. Fold strip in half lengthwise (with wrong sides together) and press. Bind as desired.

3. Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim the backing and batting even with the quilt top.

3. Assemble Quilt Center. Noting orientation of the rows, beginning and ending with Row 1, sew the seven Quilt Center rows together, alternating Row 1 and Row 2. Quilt Center should measure 45½" x 63½". 4. Inner Border. Sew one 1½" x 63½" Fabric G (red swirl) rectangle to each long side of the Quilt Center. Sew one 1½" x 47½" Fabric G (red swirl) rectangle to each short side of the Quilt Center. Quilt Center should measure 47½" x 65½".

5. Outer Border. Sew one 5½" x 65½" Fabric A (gray/ swirl poinsettia) rectangle to each long side of the Quilt Center. Sew one 5½" x 57½" Fabric A (gray/ swirl poinsettia) rectangle to each short side of the Quilt Center. Quilt Top should measure 57½" x 75½".
