Christmas Stocking I hope you have fun knitting this delightful stocking, which has been designed to have many uses. It could be made into a Christmas decoration or it could be filled with chocolates, sweets or small treats and given as a gift or party favour. It is also ideal for charity fundraising.

Measurements The finished stocking is approximately 9cm (3.5 inches) wide by 24cm (9.4 inches) long.

Materials Double knitting yarn (USA - knitting worsted weight: Australia - 8ply) in: Dark green Red White Knitting needles size 3¼mm (UK size 10) Double pointed needles if knitting the stocking in the round Sewing needle

Toy safety These characters have been designed for children, so please ensure that attached pieces are sewn on very securely and seams are tightly finished off.

Pattern Notes Instructions in round brackets These are to be repeated the number of times stated after the closing bracket. Casting on/off The knitted casting on method is recommended. Cast off knit wise unless otherwise stated. Sewing Sew up all pieces using a tiny oversew stitch. Join seams with right sides together and then turn right side out.

Loop Using red cast on 6 sts Row 1 K2, P2, K2 Row 2 P2, K2, P2 Rows 3 - 30 Repeat rows 1 and 2, 14 times Row 31 Cast off Join the side edges of the stocking, working up from the gathered toe. The ‘cast off’ stitches which have been threaded onto the yarn should blend nicely to form a neat seam at the front of the toe. Attach the loop to the stocking.
