Chubby Charmer Tote Bag Fall 2015 This is a large, sturdy tote and makes a great overnight bag or carryall for a trip to the beach. It also makes a great gift for someone special. It can be made from either 48 charm squares or 2 pieces of fabric (18” x 27” each) for the exterior of bag. It is approximately 14”h x 18”w x 10”d. THIS IS A ONE DAY CLASS AND REQUIRES HOMEWORK BEFORE COMING TO CLASS! (see below) * A featherweight machine is not suitable for constructing this bag as you will need to sew through 6 layers of fusible fleece during stages of this project. This is not a beginner bag class. REMINDER: Class Cancellation Policy is one week in advance to receive a refund; otherwise you will receive a store credit. If you cancel or don’t show on the day of the class, there is NO REFUND OR STORE CREDIT since we must compensate our teachers. PATTERN: Chubby Charmer Pattern NOTIONS: 4 Metal purse feet 5/8” Ultra Stiff Plastic Mesh Canvas (color does not matter) 12” x 18” (available at Jo Ann Fabrics) Decorative, Large Button Cutting Mat, ruler 6"x 24", a smaller ruler to use near your sewing area & rotary cutter Flexible Tape Measure Applique Pressing sheet Wonder Clips Needles: 80/12, 90/14, 100/16 Walking foot, 1/4" foot, & edge stitch foot Thread 50 wt for piecing & 40 wt for quilting & topstitching FABRIC REQIREMENTS 48 - 5” Squares OR 1-1/8 yds. Fabric for front & back exterior of bag 1-1/8 yds. for lining & interior pockets ½ yd. for Handles, side ties & button closure strap 3 yds. Pellon 987F Fusible Fleece HOMEWORK – These 3 steps MUST be completed BEFORE coming to class STEP 1. Prepare the Front & Back of bag exterior. Trim to 18” x 27”. Cut 4 pieces of fusible fleece 17 ½” x 26 ½ “ so that they are a bit smaller than your exterior. Fuse 2 pieces of fleece to front and 2 pieces to back. STEP 2. Quilt as desired. STEP 3. Cut front and back lining fabric 2 each at 17” x 26”. Cut 2 pieces of fusible fleece 16 ½” x 25 ½” so that they are a bit smaller than the lining. Fuse 1 piece of fleece to front and 1 piece of fleece to back.
