Executive Summary: June13, 2017

Hanson has provided us with a cost estimate for two options at the Live Oak Sports Complex. Option one will add an extension to the new bleacher units per field on the opposite side of the

dugouts. This option would include new cement to the new bleachers and the gates for entry would have to be relocated.

It will also include sidewalks around to the new set of bleachers.

For' this option there would also need to be new grass seed to fill in where the ground was disturbed. Option two is to increase the length of the current bleachers from 21 feet to 36 feet. The rows

would stay the same but the length would increase. The concrete would have to be extended as well. New seed would be needed for this option as well to fill in where grass was disturbed. June27,

2017

Council requested staff to speak with Little League about seating and the requirements for hosting tournaments. The Regional tournament requires 500 for seating and the state level requires 1, 000. The seating is for the entire complex. We currently do not have seating at the field to the right of the new baseball field.

Currently we have bleachers that are moved to and from Skate Park and Live Oak Park for

various events. We can pull those bleachers to add around the stadium to meet the requirement.

Subject:

Additional

Bleachers

at the Live Oak Park Little

League

Fields

Ms. Vossmer,

Enclosed are cost estimates for two options for increasing the seating at the Live Oak. Park ball fields. Option One is to provide four ( 4) new bleachers

of a similar design.

For each field, one new bleacher unit would

be placed on the opposite side of the dugout from where the current units are installed. This would nearly double the seating capacity at each field from 116 to 220. The work will include new concrete pads for the

bleachers, additional sidewalks to provide access, relocating the access gates into the ball fields ( 2 per field) in order to provide enough

room to access the fields with equipment,

and new grass seed to replace what will be

disturbed.

Option Two is to increase the seating capacity of the current bleachers by increasing the overall length to 36 feet currently 21 feet); the number of rows ( currently 5) would remain the same. This option would increase the seating at each field from 116 to 204. The work -will include increasing the size of the current concrete pads, new grass seed to replace what will be disturbed, and resetting the bleachers so that they sit correctly on the expanded

concrete

pads.

We suggest that the same bleacher company that provided the current units —Southern Bleacher Company—

be

the provider/ installer under either option. The concrete work will have to be performed by a separate contractor, as Southern Bleacher does not perform this kind of work.
