August 2016 Dear ALJ Students and Parents/Guardians, Welcome back to another school year at Arthur L. Johnson High School. The staff has been busy this summer preparing the school for what we all hope will be another successful school year for the students at ALJ. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of some important information for the beginning of the school year. This year most letters and forms as well as progress reports and report cards will only be sent electronically. It is important that we have your correct e-mail address to send this information. Contact the guidance office if you need to correct your e-mail address. If you do not have electronic mail, please contact the guidance office and copies of correspondences will be sent to you. The 2016-2017 student handbook will be available on-line at http://alj.clarkschools.org. Please pay close attention to the dress code, general policies and procedures, and attendance/tardiness sections in the handbook. Students must adhere to the dress code policy on the first day of school. The handbook will be on-line at the end of the month. Also, please remember, this year we are changing to an “A/B Block Schedule”. The new bell schedule is also on-line. Students will report to homeroom on the first day of school and the teacher will assist students with their schedules. Student schedules will be sent electronically by August 31, 2016 and copies will be distributed during homeroom on Tuesday, September 6. Listed on the back of this sheet are important dates and information for the start of school. Consult this list for the dates and times that apply to your child. Enclosed there is a “checklist” of items/forms to be returned to the school office. All forms are available on-line on the ALJ site. Forms will not be sent home, but copies are available in the main office if you are unable to print the forms. Bus schedules are posted on-line as well. I look forward to a productive and enjoyable year at ALJ working with the students, staff, and community as we make ALJ an even better place to learn and for students to experience success. Sincerely, Richard Delmonaco Richard Delmonaco Principal
