BEGINNING-TO-QUILT SERIES
QUILTING
Please note: Students in the Beginning-to-Quilt Series must be at least 16 years of age. For younger students, the material is available only as a private lesson (see “Quilting One-on-One”) and the minor must be accompanied by an adult. (No class fee is required for the adult.)
Machine Quilting with Connie Doern Sat, Jun 10: 10:30 to 4:00
Accurate Rotary Cutting with Carol Wilson Mon, Apr 10: 6:30 to 8:30 Before you take a piecing class, learn the basics of rulers, rotary cutters, and accurate and safe cutting techniques. We will teach you to follow typical cutting instructions for strip piecing. (Prerequisite to other classes in this series) $25-no pattern required
Beginning Quilt Making with Carol Wilson Wed, Jun 14 & 21 (2-part class): 6:30 to 8:30 PM Learn to make quilts! In this beginner class, you will gain confidence in rotary cutting, accurate piecing, and pressing as you make an easy-to-finish 42” x 42” quilt top. Time-saving techniques will also be taught. The skills developed in the class provide the fundamentals for making a wide range of other quilts using squares and rectangles. Some sewing may be needed between the two sessions. (Please note: You must take the Accurate Rotary Cutting class before this class unless you already have rotary-cutting skills.) $30 – pattern provided in class
Quilting One-on-One with Carol Wilson Private Lesson – by appointment Basic rotary cutting & piecing skills taught on your schedule! Most of the material covered in Rotary Cutting and Beginning Quilt Making classes will be covered, and you will be on your way to making a simple quilt when you leave. Please call to schedule your 2-hour private class! $65
Binding Basics with Pat Hjelmeland Sat, Jul 8: 10:30 to 1:00 Learn to prepare your binding strips, attach them, and turn mitered corners. Every beginner needs this class to give their quilts the finish they deserve. Don’t let a sloppy binding detract from your quilt! $25-no pattern required
FREE SIT ‘N SEW DAYS
Learn how to quilt on your domestic sewing machine. We’ll start by covering the choice of tools and supplies, pin-basting, marking, and work space preparation. Then, after a short lunch break, we’ll actually do a little straight-line quilting before spending the rest of our time on free-motion skills. $55-no pattern required
APPLIQUÉ Beginning Needle Turn Applique – Sent With Love with Angela Lawrence / Wed, May 31: 10:00 to Noon Learn the art of applique while making this delightful wall hanging. In addition to learning the needle turn stitch, you will get tips for success with points and curves. $30 plus pattern
WOOL APPLIQUÉ Beginning Wool Applique with Angela Lawrence Wed, May 10: 10 to Noon Whether you’ve worked with wool appliqué or not, this class is for you! You will learn the techniques and stitches while making this darling pin cushion. $30 plus pattern
PIECING Intro to Foundation Piecing with Sharon Meisenheimer Mon, Jun 12: 6:00 to 8:30 Enjoy the fun and accuracy of foundation piecing (AKA paper piecing) using a pattern supplied by the instructor. Sharp points, perfect pieces will be yours with this easy technique. Class includes special tips for paper-piecing miniature blocks. $25 - no pattern required.
Intro to English Paper Piecing with Sharon Meisenheimer Mon, Jun 12: 1:00 to 3:30 Learn the technique of English paper piecing, a great “takealong” technique that will help you make accurate Grandmother’s Flower Garden and many other blocks. $25 – no pattern required
WOOL CLUB hosted by Patty Barrett 2nd Tuesday every month: Noon to 4:00 Come when you can and stay as long as you can. Bring your showand-tell and a project to work on. No charge.
APPLIQUE DAY hosted by Angela Lawrence 3rd Wednesday every month: 10:00 to 3:00 Bring your project and join in this fun-filled day with fellow quilters. Bring a bag lunch or join the others at a nearby restaurant. No charge.
MACHINE APPLIQUE Beginning Machine Applique with Patty Barrett / by appointment Machine applique skills and techniques taught on your schedule! Bring a project of your choice and we’ll walk you through all the steps. Please call to schedule your private 2-hour class. $65 or come with a friend for $50 each
Class fees are due at the time you enroll and are not refundable unless you provide notice prior to 7 days before the class begins. Books, patterns, and notions on the class supply list can be purchased at a 15% discount upon your paid enrollment through the day of the class. All classes are subject to a minimum enrollment; if we cancel the class, we will refund your class fee.
