CHRISTMAS EVE 2017 @ TWIN CITIES CHURCH “We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor. 3:18 ESV
You BECOME What You BEHOLD BEHOLD – to see or observe something remarkable or impressive. It is used in the New Testament “when a thing happens that is unexpected yet sure” or seems “impossible and yet occurs.” – Thayer’s Greek Lexicon “Why are you here on Earth? To BEHOLD. Our awareness of reality is always connected to seeing.” – Anaxagoras, Greek Philosopher 531–428 BC
When We BEHOLD Jesus, We See The Prophet Who Speaks To Us For God “Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, He has spoken to us through His Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son He created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God…” Hebrews 1:1-3a NLT
Because Of Jesus We Can Hear From God “No longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 31:34a ESV
When We BEHOLD Jesus, We See The Priest Who Brings Us To God “When He had cleansed us from our sins, He sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in Heaven.” Heb. 1:3b NLT
Because Of Jesus We Can Know God “Unlike those other high priests, He does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when He offered Himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins.” Hebrews 7:27 NLT “Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16 NLT
When We BEHOLD Jesus, We See The King Who Secures Our Future With God “He sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in Heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave Him is greater than their names.” Hebrews 1:3b-4 NLT
Because Of Jesus We Can Walk With God “Now He (Jesus) is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.” Ephesians 1:21-22 NLT “But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.” John 20:31 NLT “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow Me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’” John 8:12 NLT
