PREP U. HOOPS CODES OF CONDUCT  

PARENT  CODE  OF  CONDUCT   Parents  of  players  are  expected  to  act  like  adults,  value  setting  an  example  for  their  child  and   responsible  for  their  family  image  -­‐  even  if  you  don’t  care  about  your  image...your  child  and  others  are   watching  and  taking  notes.   If  you  can’t  act  like  an  adult,  at  least  act  like  a  parent.      

COACH  CODE  OF  CONDUCT   Coaches  are  expected  to  coach  with  passion,  encourage  by  challenging  and  understand  the  role  they   play  in  a  player's  experience.   Coaching  is  a  privileged  burden.      

PLAYER  CODE  OF  CONDUCT   Players  are  expected  to  play  the  game  of  basketball,  give  maximum  effort  and  compete  with  themselves   and  others.   Playing  is  a  commitment  to  getting  better.      

FRIENDS  AND  FAMILY  CODE  OF  CONDUCT   Friends  and  family  are  expected  to  respect  the  game,  the  teams,  the  players,  the  player's  parents,  the   referees,  and  most  importantly  themselves.   Be  a  friend  and  act  like  family.       ALL  PARTICIPANTS  ARE  EXPECTED  TO  DISPLAY  SPORTSMANSHIP  AND  GAMESMANSHIP  AND  HAVE   RESPECT  FOR  THE  OPPORTUNITY  TO  BE  A  PART  OF  SOMETHING  THAT  WILL  IMPACT  YOUNG   BASKETBALL  PLAYERS  -­‐  AND  KIDS.      WE  RESERVE  THE  RIGHT  TO  ASK  ANY  SPECTATOR,  PARENTS,   COACH  OR  PLAYER  TO  LEAVE  THE  PREMISES  FOR  INTERFERING  WITH  THE  POSITIVE  ENVIRONMENT   WE  AER  TRYING  TO  CREATE.

FALL LEAGUE GAME SCHEDULE Games will begin on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 Location: Southpointe Courthouse Days: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Times: 6pm to 9pm GAME SCHEDULE ON FOLLOWING PAGES Fall League Schedule can be viewed online at www.prepuhoops.com under the heading “PREP U. CENTRAL” FALL LEAGUE ROSTERS Players were placed on teams if they did not join the league with a team. There are a total of 4 Divisions: Boys – Intermediate Boys – Middle Boys – High School Girls – Intermediate Girls – MS/JV Fall League Rosters can be viewed online at www.prepuhoops.com under the heading “PREP U.   PRE-­‐GAME  RULES   •

Games  have  been  scheduled  45  minutes  apart  and  every  effort  will  be  made  to  start  games  at   the  time  they  are  scheduled.  

•

Teams/Players  should  show  up  at  least  15  minutes  before  their  team’s  scheduled  game  time.      

•

Warm   up   times   for   games   will   be   limited   to   3   minutes,   so   players   are   advised   to   stretch   prior   to   their  schedule  game  times.    

•

If   a   team   does   not   have   5   players   to   start   the   game,   then   a   team   may   start   the   game   with   4   players.      

•

If  a  team  does  not  have  4  or  more  players  at  the  beginning  of  the  game  or  the  team  does  not   want  to  start  the  game,  then  the  game  clock  will  start  when  the  game  is  scheduled  to  begin.      

•

If  a  game  starts  late  because  a  team  is  late,  one  (1)  point  will  be  given  to  the  team  present  for   each  minute  that  passes.    For  example,  if  a  game  starts  with  10  minutes  left  in  the  1st  half  of  a   Middle/Intermediate  game,  when  the   game   starts   will   be   6  –  0.    If  the  game  starts  in  the  2nd   half,  the  score  will  automatically  be  20  -­‐  0.         In  either  situation,  when  a  team  is  late,  no  warm-­‐up  time  will  be  allowed.

GAME  RULES Intermediate  &  Middle  Division  -­‐  Two  16-­‐Minute  Halves  (w/  Running  Clock)     High  School  Division  –  Two  18-­‐Minute  Halves  (w/  Running  Clock)   •

Due  to  having  a  running  clock,  players  are  expected  to  hustle  at  all  times  during  breaks   in  play,  so  as  to  maximize  the  actual  playing  time.    For  example,  players  will  be  expected   to   hustle   to   the   free   throw   line   and   to   receive   the   ball   out   of   bounds   and   out   of   timeouts.

Clock   will   stop   the   last   2   minutes   of   the   game   for   games   with   a   10   point   or   less   point   difference

Half  time  will  be  2  minutes  long

Referees     2   Referees   per   game   for   Middle,   JV   and   Varsity   Division   games.     Some   Boys   –   Intermediate  game  may  have  1  Referee Timeouts 1  timeout  per  half  per  team  -­‐  (45  Seconds)/2  total  timeouts  per  team  per  game   Unused  timeouts  will  not  carry  over  to  the  next  half  or  overtime   If   there   is   an   injury   and   play   has   to   stop   due   to   injury,   then   the   team   of   the   injured   player  will  have  to  use  its  timeout   Substitutions Substitutions   may   be   made   at   any   point   during   the   game   by   a   coach,   team   captain   or   Game  Manager.       General  game  substitutions  will  take  place  at  the  12:00,  8:00  and  4:00  minute  mark  of   each  half  in  Middle  and  Intermediate  division  games.   General  game  substitutions  will  take  place  at  the  14:00,  10:00  and  6:00  minute  mark  of   each  half  in  JV  and  Varsity  division  games.     A   good   faith   effort   must   be   made   so   as   to   ensure   that   all   players   on   a   team   receive   substantially   equal   playing   time,   however,   equal   playing   time   is   not   required   or   guaranteed  in  the  High  School  Division,  but  all  players  must  play.

Fouls  and  Free  Throws     Team  fouls  –  1  and  1  when  a  team  reaches  7  fouls,  2  free  throws  when  a  team  reaches   10  fouls.       Overtime   If   a   game   is   tied   at   the   end   of   regulation,   the   first   overtime   will   be   2   minutes   with   a   running  clock  and  no  stoppage.    No  timeouts  are  permitted  in  the  first  overtime.         If   the   game   is   still   tied   after   the   first   overtime,   then   there   will   be   asudden-­‐death   overtime   -­‐   first   team   to   score   wins   (making   1   free   throw   is   a   score).     No   timeouts   are   permitted  during  the  sudden  death  overtime   Defense

Man-­‐to-­‐man  defense  is  not  required,  but  it  is  HIGHLY  suggested.

Problems/Issues   -­‐   If   you   have   a   problem/issue,   please   make   the   Program   Director,   Keenan  Holmes,  aware  of  the  problem.    It  should  go  without  saying  that  if  a  problem  is   expressed,   it   is   done   in   a   way   that   is   respectful   of   everyone,   including   Keenan,   the   referees,   parents   and,   most   important,   the   players.    You   can   reach   Keenan   at   [email protected],  or  you  can  send  an  email  to  [email protected]

Coaching   –   All   teams   must   have   volunteer   coaches.     If   your   son’s   or   daughter’s   team   does  not  have  a  coach,  then  someone  must  volunteer.    Please  email  with  questions     Scoreboard   –   Each   team   playing   must   have   someone   on   the   clock   and   scorebook   for   every  game.

Uniforms   –   Uniforms   are   not   provided   for   the   fall   league.     Coaches   and   parents   may   communicate   as   to   what   players   will   wear.     It   is   suggested   that   all   players   wear   reversible   jerseys,   with   a   white   side.     If   a   team   has   a   uniform,   then   that   team   may   wear   it.     If   a   player   played   in   the   Summer   League,   the   Summer   League   reversible   may   be   worn.    Any  questions,  please  email  [email protected].
