The project, an expansion of the existing facilities on the site, includes the convention/exhibition center, hotel, department store and retail arcade. New facilities total 7,496,000 sf of design and construction. The preliminary phase of study evaluated the development potential and market-driven feasibility of the project. The master plan maximizes the revenue-generating potential of the site while accommodating the expansion of the center required to remain competitive with other international centers. The schematic design features the idea of a forest in an urban setting. The layering of landscape through the use of tree cover and lawn parterre creates a variety of spaces from closed to open and from hard to soft. Major water features are located at north and east entries with a sunken garden open to subway and lower retail level. SWA Group: www.swagroup.com
