AGENDA 14.00 Arrival and refreshments 14.15 Welcome from Alan Burgess, South West Water 14.25 Regen SW Community Energy Group Network Cheryl Hiles, director of sustainable energy delivery, Regen SW The idea for a Community Energy Group Network came out of Regen’s Renewable Solutions event in June 2012. The network will act to help Regen feed your views to government, and to facilitate shared learning. Cheryl Hiles will lead a session to agree the details of how this network could work, and what community energy groups would like to get out of it. 15.15 Department for Energy and Climate Change’s call for evidence on community engagement and benefits for onshore wind projects James Davis, Office for Renewable Energy Deployment, DECC The government has launched a call for evidence aimed at ensuring that communities secure financial, social and environmental benefit from hosting onshore wind farms. The community benefits consultation is seeking information on:  Barriers to community engagement and how to address these  How wind farms could deliver wider environmental and social benefits to communities  Best practice in local consultation by developers  Ways to maximise participation by local businesses in the economic supply chain for wind projects  Innovative ways to reward host communities, such as offsetting electricity bills.
