How to Participate

Step 1: Sponsorship of an executive in Social Venture Partners (SVP) is a minimum commitment of a $5,000 tax-deductible contribution per year.

Step 2: The designated participant completes a membership application for review by SDSVP prior to acceptance. Step 3: Orientation begins the first month where the new Fellow learns about the SVP philanthropy model and the Fellow’s options for engagement. During this session, personal

Research and identifies the non-profit organizations that are chosen as SVP Investees. Team members learn about the issues facing our community, how to evaluate organizational effectiveness, and how to select a viable investment. Experiences include grant review, grantee presentations, and site visits.

Monitors progress and reviews milestones of each Investee to ensure the success of their partnership with SVP. The group offers strategic guidance and support to the Lead Partner and assists him or her in determining the best Investee work plan.

Work Behind-the-Scenes

Act as primary liaison between SVP Partners and staff, and the Investee. Lead Partners work to identify volunteer projects, develop the vision for the Investee/SDSVP relationship, oversee budgeting needs, and provide leadership and executive coaching. Board Development: Advises on board size and composition, develops roles and responsibilities, and reviews by-laws.

Business Operations: Provides assistance in business planning, fiscal and operational management, assistance with information technology, strategy, communication systems, and social networking.

Fund Development: Evaluates fundraising strategies and tactics to increase donations and revenue in a cost-effective way. Marketing: Helps with branding and positioning, communication and collateral material, and media and public relations.

Strategic and Outcome Planning: Enables organizations to determine the quantity and quality of the impact they will create, communicate clearly their uniqueness and value, and create plans to enable growth and sustainability.
