Areas sharing the same time

S Times in neighboring ones are one hour apart.

The Prime Meridian S The Prime Meridian, in Greenwich, England,

is at the center of one of the time zones. S Greenwich Mean Time or Universal Time (UT)

S Times zones are sometimes described in terms

of how many hours they are behind or ahead of UT. S Central Standard Time in the United States is

UT-6, or six hours behind UT.
