14.4    By  2020,  effec)vely  regulate  harves)ng  and  end   overfishing,  illegal,  unreported  and  unregulated  fishing  and   destruc)ve  fishing  prac)ces  and  implement  science-­‐based   management  plans,  in  order  to  restore  fish  stocks  in  the   shortest  )me  feasible,  at  least  to  levels  that  can  produce   maximum  sustainable  yield  as  determined  by  their  biological   characteris)cs  

The  Index  Ini-a-ve  –  sustainability   evalua)on  of  the  30  largest  seafood   companies  in  the  world,  ranked  in  a  league   table  and  updated  annually  

Transparency:  The  FiTI  will  increase  transparency  by   regularly  publishing  informa)on  regarding  ‘access  to   marine  fisheries’.  This  includes,  inter  alia,  who  has  the   right  to  fish  (e.g.  rights  holders,  vessels,  license   agreements),  how  much  is  paid  for  the  right  to  fish,   and  how  much  fish  is  extracted.  The  informa)on  will   cover  large-­‐scale  fisheries  as  well  as  small-­‐scale   fisheries.    

Detail  of  Informa)on     Each  fishery  profile  contains  the  following  informa)on  for  wild   fisheries:     •  Name  of  fish   •  Geographical  loca)on  of  source  fisheries   •  The  type  of  fishing  gear   •  The  na)onality  of  the  fishery   •  An  assessment  of  the  management  and  status  of  the  fishery  using   scores  derived  from  the  public  Fishsource  database   •  A  narra)ve  assessment  of  environmental  impacts  derived  from  the   publicFishsource  database   •  The  presence  of  third  party  fishery  cer)fica)ons  or  fisheries  that   have  been  approved  as  part  of  wider  cer)fica)ons   •  The  existence  of  improvement  projects
