HOW TO GROW Choose a sunny sheltered spot where your border will be, then dig over the soil removing weeds and incorporating a fertiliser if necessary. Rake the soil to a warm, moist, crumbly surface and sow your Cornflower and Aster direct, thinly but evenly across the chosen area. Rake in gently. For the Aquilegia, Hollyhock and Lupin prepare a small ‘seedbed’ in a similar way to above and sow the seed in rows.Thin your seedlings of Cornflower and Aster to a final spacing of 15-23cm (6-9") and 30-38cm (12-15") respectively. Thin seedlings of Aquilegia, Hollyhock and Lupin in their ‘seedbed’ to 15cm (6") initially and then, when they are approx. 15cm (6") high, they can be moved to their permanent site spacing the Aquilegia at 38cm (15"), Hollyhock 38-45cm (15-18") and Lupin 45cm (18"), to flower the following year.
