CRAZY FOR HARVEST DIRECTIONS Trace all pieces onto Steam-a-Seam or a light fusible web of your choice. All images have been reversed. The dotted line indicates where the wool piece will be under another piece of wool. Cut out pieces close to drawn line and adhere to the coordinating wool. Cut out on drawn line. Cut black wool 8 X 8. Arrange pieces onto block using the colored photo as a guide and press into place using short little presses with a lot of steam. Use Granny’s pressing cloth to prevent scorching the black wool. Blanket stitch all pieces. ACCENT STITCHES: Use the Clover Gel Pen to mark where you will stitch or you can free hand it. Use a stem stitch on: Apple stems (1644) Apple basket (8123) Apple basket handle (O563) Acorn stems (1644) Acorn leaves veins (191) (O510) Sunflower leaves veins (O575) Pumpkins (160) Pumpkin vines (191) Scarecrow mouth and pants (8123) Use a Colonial or French knot for: Apple basket handle, Scarecrow eyes and buttons (8123) Use a straight stitch to secure the Scarecrow patches: Heart (O775) Pant leg patches, Arm patch (8123) CRAZY STITCHES Use whatever “CRAZY” stitches you want to create your patchwork or follow the colored picture. FINISHING Cut an 8 X 8 piece of fusible web and adhere it to the back of your project. Layer that to the backing (homespun) and press together. Trim project to 8X8 and blanket stitch around the outside edges. If hanging, you will need to make a sleeve. From your homespun, cut a 3 X 7 piece. Fold the short ends in ½” and press. Then fold in the long end to the center and press. Fold the other side to the center and press, your piece should measure approximately 1 x 6. Cut a piece of fusible web 1 X 6 and fuse to the backside of the sleeve. (No sewing involved when making this sleeve and all raw edged are hidden.) Center it on the backside of your project and fuse into place and secure with a whip stitch. Enjoy ☺
