You can create new workbooks or edit existing ones on Tableau Server, either in a web browser or using an iPad or Android tablet. Similar to authoring with Tableau Desktop, you can drag and drop dimensions and measures, control mark color, size and other properties using the Marks card, and use Show Me! to quickly switch between visualization types.
1
Open a View
On the Tableau Server Views page, click a view, then select Edit.
2
Edit the View
There are many ways you can edit a view. One of them is to use the Marks card to change the mark type in your view. For example, you can use Marks drop-down to switch from a line chart to an area chart.
The ability to edit views and workbooks on Tableau Server is controlled by the Web Authoring permission. By default, this permission is allowed for users who are licensed as Interactors.
3
Try Out the Toolbar
The toolbar is another quick way to modify a view. Use the toolbar to change the label font, swap the x and y axes, or use Show Me! to view the data differently:
4
Save As a New Workbook
To save your work as a new workbook, click Save As in the upper left:
You can use a Tableau Server data source to create a new workbook. On the Data Sources page, select the data source and then click New Workbook.
