Creating a New Request in Planview Definitions Request: a proposal for new work (project, program, or portfolio) in Planview. Requests are not necessary for all types of projects, but if your project is large in scope and must be approved in Box Header order to begin, you will need to submit a request before creating the work in Planview.

Steps Open the Request Menu 1.Box Log Header into Planview: https://vumc.pvcloud.com/planview/. 2. Click Requests to open the Request Menu.
3. In the Request menu, click + New Request in the Show menu.
Complete Request Basic Information 1. Complete the Basic Information for the request. Give your request a name that allows for easy identification.

Note that in Planview, vertical red lines ( | ) next to fields indicate that those fields are required to proceed. 2. Select the appropriate Request Type from the dropdown menu.
3. Select the appropriate Proposed Group (i.e., area of VUMC with which you think your request best aligns) from the dropdown menu.
4. Provide a Description of the project or program you’re requesting. This description can be brief; there is another field to include more detailed information.

Requested by is the person entering the request into Planview, not necessarily the actual person who requested the project. 5. If you have a Requested Start or Requested Finish date, complete these fields.
6. Click Save to proceed.
Complete Request General Information 1. Type or use the calendar picker to select the Date of Submission for the request. Note that past dates can be selected, if entering retroactively.

2. Type the Requesting Customer Name. This is a free-text field, meaning this person may or may not have Planview access.
3. Select the Submitting Department for the request by doing one of the following: a. Type a keyword and click the magnifying glass icon to select from a list of choices.
b. Click the bookmark to choose from a list of “favorites” you have previously bookmarked.

c. Click the data picker icon to browse through the organizational hierarchy for the correct department.
4. Select the Senior Executive Sponsor by using the magnifying glass, bookmark, or data picker as outline above.
If your project does not have a Senior Executive Sponsor, click the data picker icon and choose “N/A,” which is the first item on the list in the hierarchy. 5. Select Requestor Priority from the drop-down menu.

6. Select Yes from the Regulatory drop-down menu if your project request is regulatory in nature. Otherwise, select No.
7. Select Yes if you have documents to upload associated with your request. Otherwise, select No.
Complete Executive Summary 1. Provide a brief outline of the project you’re requesting in the Executive Summary field. (You will have an opportunity to provide more information in subsequent steps.)

Complete Enterprise Goal Alignment 1. Select Yes or No from the drop-down menus in this section to indicate the strategic goals with which your project is aligned.
These goals will be updated periodically to reflect the current business goals of the VUMC enterprise. Complete Pillar Goal Alignment 1. Select Yes or No from the drop-down menus in this section to indicate the Pillar(s) with which your project is aligned.

7. Click Save. Save Request 1. After completing the request information and clicking Save, you will see the following confirmation screen.
2. Click Save. 3. Your request window will close, and you will be taken back to My Planview.
