Creating New Work From a Request in Planview Definitions Request: In Planview, a Request is formal documentation of a project or program proposal. Requests are submitted for review and approval to the appropriate leadership team. If Box Header approved, they will become new Work in Planview. Work: In Planview, projects and programs are documented as Work.

3. In the Requests Menu, click Request, select the request you need to convert to work, then click Request View.

Creating New Work From a Request in Planview Review Request Information 1. Review each section of the original request from the Request View screen.

Note: Because you are converting the Request to Work, you do not need to update the original Request Information. You will have the opportunity to make changes when the Work is entered. 2. In the PMO Collaboration Decisions section, click PMO Collaboration Meeting to review recommendations or notes from the PMO collaboration team.

Creating New Work From a Request in Planview Choose an Association In the Association section, there are two options. Choose the next step based on the appropriate situation below: 1. If you are generating work that is a new standalone project or a new program: a. Click Generate New, then select Primary Work.

b. Complete the steps to Create New Work. Much of your information about the project is transferred from the original request, but you may need to make changes if the PMO collaboration team recommended them in the step above. 2. If you are generating work that is a project within an existing program: a. Click Associate to Existing, then select Primary Work.

b. Browse or search the Data Picker to find the program with which your new work is associated.

c. Click OK.

Creating New Work From a Request in Planview Update Request Status 1. In the Action Menu, note the name of the request’s Dispatcher. This person will be notified that there is a new work lifecycle step to complete. If you need to update this field, click Reassign.

a. When the pop-up window opens, type to Search and click the name of the updated Dispatcher.

2. In the Action Menu, click the dropdown menu for Set Request Status to, and select Dispatched.

3. Enter Comments about the conversion from Request to Work if needed.

4. Click Save.
