Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway

Timeline • Arlington contract award – February 22, 2014 • Arlington contract NTP – March 18, 2014 • Currently pursuing permits • Preconstruction meeting in mid-April – contractor’s sequencing will be presented at that time • Contract term is 10 months to substantial completion/beneficial use, assuming no delays 3

Outreach • Public meeting in planning for late April to communicate contractor’s sequencing • Door-to-door outreach in planning for particularly affected properties • Groundbreaking ceremony likely in early May

Service roll-out • Late summer 2014 – Alexandria transitway complete – Launch Metroway branded service between Braddock Road and Crystal City • Every 12 minutes weekdays; 20 minutes weekends • Additional peak period service every 12 minutes between Potomac Yard and Crystal City

• Early spring 2015 – Arlington transitway complete – Metroway extends to Pentagon City – Off-vehicle fare collection rolled out 5

Crystal City Streetcar

Project definition • Proposed alignment – Streetcar service between South Glebe Road and Pentagon City • Uses CCPY Transitway in Potomac Yard • Northbound on Crystal Drive and 12th Street • Southbound on 12th Street, parallel to US 1, 18th Street, and Crystal Drive

– Direct connection to Columbia Pike line – Northbound bike lane moved to S Clark Street; southbound bike lane remains on Crystal Drive

• Facilities – Approx. 5 traction power substations – Vehicle storage facility

Crystal City Streetcar

• Service plan – Current assumption is one-seat ride interlined with Columbia Pike every 6 minutes – Metroway service continues on CCPY Transitway between Braddock Road and Pentagon City – Shared bus and streetcar stops on Crystal Drive and in Potomac Yard – Service plan to continue to be examined and refined

Ongoing work • Environmental – Complete NEPA and cultural resources work on both streetcar projects

• Project sequencing – Examine project schedules in light of project risks and funding plans to determine which streetcar project will finish first – Evaluate timing of maintenance facility construction

• Project delivery – Detailed examination of optimal project delivery strategy / contracting plan 8

ART 43 Bus Service Steve Yaffe, Transit

ART 43 Crystal City – Rosslyn – Courthouse ART 43 • Starts on Monday, March 31 • Runs every 20 minutes during morning and evening rush hours • Limited stop route that stops at: - Crystal City VRE - Crystal City Metro

- Rosslyn Metro Ft. Myer Dr. & Wilson Blvd. - Courthouse Metro

ART 43 Crystal City – Rosslyn – Courthouse Metrobus will also be introducing two new routes on March 31, the 10R and 10S. These routes will travel between the Crystal City Metro and Rosslyn Metro during AM and PM rush hours. ART 43 together with Metrobus 10R and 10S will provide non-stop service between the Crystal City Metro and the Rosslyn Metro about every 10 minutes.

Eads Streets • Expansion of bus stop capacity • Traffic and pedestrian safety improvements • Needed to support CCPY Transitway and future streetcar conversion • Improvements until full intermodal center constructed as part of redevelopment per Sector Plan • Coordination with WMATA and CC BID 20

at intersection of 18th Street S and Crystal Drive on east side of Crystal Drive adjacent to future Transitway station easier access to/from VRE station
