Leber & Paletta Named All-America Honorable Mention Two Mavericks Honored in the 2009 Daktronics All-America Award San Angelo, Texas.--- The 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Teams were announced today with Minnesota State senior midfielder Gina Paletta and junior forward Laura Leber earning honorable mentions. Sports information directors from NCAA D-II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fourth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA D-II Women’s Soccer All-America and all-region teams. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 23 different institutions filled out the three teams. A Council Bluffs, Iowa, native, Leber was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team. Leber led the team in goals with 11 and in points with 25. In conference matches this season, she finished fourth for goals (11), tied for fourth in points (24) and fifth in game-winning goals (5). She led the team in game-winning goals, shots on goal (39) and shots (64). Leber had three assists on the 2009 season. She tallied her second career hat-trick in the 6-0 victory over Ferris State (8/28), earning her second NSIC Offensive Player of the Week award Aug. 31. She was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team member. An Omaha, Neb., native, Paletta was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team. Paletta held the second place spot in goals, assists, and points (7-9-23). In NSIC play she held down second for assists with nine. The nine assists is a career-high. Paletta had a careerhigh match, offensively, in the 8-0 victory over MSU Moorhead (10/31), scoring two goals, earning two assists and accumulating six points. Paletta finished her career at MSU with 17 goals, 15 assists, accumulating 49 points. She was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team member. Honorable Mention Pos. Name School Yr.
