Davis Lacrosse Association Board Meeting December 5, 2012 Minutes Call to Order With a quorum present, Mr. Soeth called the meeting to order at 7:09 PM. Board Members Present: Don Aiello, Dave Ceppos, Karen Gellen, Randy Mager, Tom Qvistgaard and Mark Soeth Guests: None Minutes from September 17, 2012 Randy Mager motioned to adopt; Tom Qvistgaard 2nd; Minutes approved. Minutes from October 1, 2012 Need to add Karen Gellen as attending; Dave Ceppos motioned to adopt with the correction; Randy Mager 2nd; Minutes approved NCJLA Mark Soeth mentioned that team registrations for both boys and girls close on Dec 9th. Introductory lacrosse program for elementary schools Dave Ceppos reported that introductory sessions were held at Birch Lane, Patwin and Emerson. DLA team registration plans/coach status Boys U9 – We have enough boys for one team. Adam Kenney to coach. Should be able to set up games with El Dorado Hills and Granite Bay. U11 – Will register one team with wait list starting at 22 players.
U13 – 27 currently registered but 2 being moved up to U15’s leaving 25. The wait list is to be re-opened. If we get to 34 players we can decide to register two teams. U15 – Plan to register one team Girls U13 & U15 – Enough girls registered to justify register one team each. It appears that Suzanne Isidor can oversee the coaching of the U13 & U15 teams but will not be able to be the head coach for either team. DTA will email UCD women’s club team contacts to see if any players might be interested in coaching one of these teams. Fall Ball – Dave Ceppos reported that there we no lesson plans nor emails to the coaches ahead of the practices. Coaching stipends/Player registration offset The board discussed and agreed that each coaching position could have a stipend and that stipend can be used to offset the registration fees for the coach’s child(ren). Any offset must be included in the coach’s contract. If the registration fees for the program are higher than the stipend received by the coach, the difference must be paid by the player’s family. Equipment rental - The board discussed and agreed that a boy’s equipment package, consisting of a helmet, gloves, and elbow and shoulder pads can be rented for $50/season. Jerseys – Mark Soeth and Dina Runk have started working on a new uniform order. Key Dates - Mark Soeth covered the key activities and dates for the spring season o Boys Scheduling Meetings Dec 12-15 Practice Starts Jan 28 Regular Season Starts Feb 22 Redding Jamboree Feb 22-24 Regular Season Ends May 5 (U9/U11/U13C) or May 11 (U15B/U13B) Festival/Tournament May 11 (U9/U11/U13C) or May 18/19 (U15B/U13B) US Lacrosse June 28-30 ($1000/$1250/$1350)
