2017-18 Division I Volleyball Recruiting Calendar Contact/Evaluation Period: Volleyball is limited to 80 evaluation days (August 1 - July 31), which do not include employment of coaches in instructional camps/clinics but do include involvement outside the contact/evaluation period with a local sports club. An evaluation day is defined as one coach engaged in the evaluation of a prospect; two coaches making evaluations on the same day use two evaluation days. **In those states that play the high school volleyball season in the winter, contacts and evaluations shall be permissible Jan. 1 through the Friday prior to the Presidents weekend tournaments.** Quiet Period: Only in-person, on-campus contact is permissible. Contacts and evaluations are NOT permissible. Dead Period: During the December 13-31 dead period, coaches attending the AVCA annual awards banquet may have incidental contact with two-year college prospects being honored at the banquet, provided no recruiting conversation occurs. One evaluation day at one event is permissible on the Thursday of the DI Women’s Volleyball Championship through Sunday (Dec 1417), provided it occurs within a 30-mile radius of the site of the championship . **CU is limited to seven recruiting opportunities (contacts and evaluations combined) per prospect. During the prospect’s senior year in high school, not more than three of the seven opportunities may be contacts. All contacts and evaluations that occur during the academic year count against the permissible number of recruiting opportunities. Evaluations that take place during the summer are considered outside the academic year and do not count against the number of recruiting opportunities. Contacts that occur outside of the academic year do count against the contact limits.**
