Denim Clutch

9. Cut away most of the seam allowance at each corner as shown. 10. Cut a 3” section of both sides of the Fabric Fusion Velcro ™. Following the manufactures directions, adhere to both sides of inside center of Clutch, about 3/8” below the opening or apply a snap in the same location.

Denim Clutch Directions

1. Serge or zig zag finish both 9" ends. 2. Decorate Clutch as desired keeping 1" away from all sides and being mindful of the fold line. In our example we have stitched down the centers of 7 strips of denim using Piece 3. Note: If you do not want the chenille look, stitch down both outer edges of Piece 3. 3. Use Chenille Brush™ or pull vertical threads to fray edges of any denim strips used in decorating. 4. Fuse fleece to wrong side of lining.

11. Fold the clutch in half, wrong sides together, so the 9" edges are together. Using a zipper foot, stitch a 5/8” seam on each side of Clutch. Starting at the top of clutch, backstitch at the top, then stitch all the way down and backstitch again at the bottom.

12. Use Chenille Brush™ to fray edges or pull vertical threads out of the sides of the clutch. Both techniques will create a chenille/ fringe effect.

5. Place or fuse Peltex®™ to fleece. 6. Lay lining (with fleece and Peltex® on bottom) right side up, centered on wrong side of denim. 7. Secure the lining by stitching along both sides close to the edge, backstitching at beginning and end of each seam.

13. Add any final embellishments. Note: We added two horizontal denim strips to this Clutch at step 2.

8. Fold over the 9" serged edges 5/8". Stitch across at 1/2" seam allowance, starting and stopping at the edges of lining.
