Available Fields for Spring Baseball and Softball Games o School District Fields: 2 fields at Mill Creek (16 & 18), 2 fields at Creekside (9 & 10), Freshman Field, and Challenger turf field (for Challenger Division and Tball) o Other Fields: Steffey Field @ Peace Lutheran Church PLUS DLL is working with Hudson Mills to have the Meadows North and South fields updated for game use.

Changes Planned to Mill Creek Fields o Fields 17 and 19 have been removed at Mill Creek. A new field will be created in this space for Middle School soccer, football, other. It won’t be ready for two years because the turf needs that long to take root. o The current bathrooms will remain with a path from the baseball fields. However, a Porta-Jon will likely be put near the baseball fields while construction is happening. o Planning to repave the path at Mill Creek and put a pathway between the existing baseball fields and the new multi-purpose field. o The center rotunda will be paved with concrete during Summer of 2018 (after July 4th). The concession stand will have to be temporarily moved. o There is currently no plumbing at the concession stand. Plans do not exist to add plumbing, although some suggested this would be a good time to do so. We currently use a pump running water. o Will have the concession stand at Mill Creek fields for Spring season. o Two existing batting cages will stay where they are at Mill Creek.

Changes Planned to Creekside Fields Creekside Fields Current State: o Fields 9 and 10 exist at Creekside. These fields will be usable for the Spring baseball / softball season. Creekside Fields Future State: o Fields 9 and 10 will be removed and a new quad (4 new fields) will be built on this land once the Spring baseball / softball season ends. The new fields will be built closer to the parking lot and go back to the woods. o New fields are expected to be ready for play by Spring of 2019. Outfields will be seeded. Granger will nurse these fields to encourage root development. Fields have to be seeded by Labor Day to be ready for Spring 2019 season. o The ground for the new Creekside fields has to be raised 4 -6 ft. 30,000 yards of dirt from elementary school development will be moved behind the existing two fields. Once the spring season ends, the dirt will be spread where all 4 fields will be built. o Dr. Timmis wants the new Creekside Quad to be as good as Mill Creek or better. Planning for certain things, but may not be able to get all the wants. o Rotunda - Need to get a price. If the School Board can afford it, they will put it in. o Will have a bathroom at the Creekside fields. If bathroom and concession building is built (at some point), it will likely be built on the South side of the quad. Will have Porta-Jon at a minimum. Porta-Jon’s have to be 100ft from food. o Planning for two batting cages in the future. o Will have an asphalt path for accessibility. Pavement will be there regardless of what gets built. 12-ft wide path. o Adding bleachers behind home plate for each field to accommodate 100 - 125 people. o Fences to be added for new fields - 8 ft black coated fence and outfield fences, 22 ft backstop w/ 8 ft hoods, 20 ft fence will separate the parking lot from the fields. o 50 ft between fields o 10 ft warning track around the outside is on the wish list. o Will have 60 ft and 90 ft base plugs o Scoreboards for all four fields is on the wish list. Will run conduit and wire for all. o Power will be run to each homefield dugout and to the center rotunda area. o Center rotunda area will be the same size that is currently at Mill Creek.

o Putting in a 2-inch irrigator line to each field, so that hoses can at least be used. Alternate price is being given for head to head sprinkler coverage. o No new parking will be built. Will have to use nearby lots. On big weekends, families can use the bus loop. o Border to border trail will be built near the property. o Storage on the property could be built, but has to be under 400 sq ft and be paid for by donors. Otherwise, approval is required by the State and would be costly. o Beckett & Raeder, Landscape Architect – Have done ball fields all over the state. o May put conifers in the back or wild seed. Other Notes o Two new large turf fields are going in at the HS where trees were cleared on the back of the property. It will be like Al Ritt. Lines will exist for use by various groups (field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, band, football, HS baseball, other?). Bleacher seating for 150 will be added for each field along with lights. This will be done by Fall 2018 o Granger will maintain grass for all new fields through Christmas of 2019. They want to encourage root growth. They will take care of watering, fertilizing and weeding. o After last day of school 2018, Baker Rd will be shut down at Shield for roundabouts. o A Summer baseball program may be organized through Community Ed, since DLL is not planning to have a Summer program this year due to all the development. High School Varsity fields will be available. o Field schedule will be tricky for a 1 year. Updates from DLL President Melissa Boobyer •

The President of Little League in Chelsea has approved for DLL to play games at the fields in Chelsea for overflow if needed. DLL’s goal is not to send families there. However, we don’t want to limit registrations, so it is a possibility.

Softball News o The DLL Board decided to move playing to the West side of the district. We will now be playing with Jackson and Chelsea. Several things prompted the change. It’s about the same distance. o MP Girls - Will be Dexter vs Dexter this year. Jackson has 12 Coach Pitch teams and they don’t use machines. All of their 8-year-old girls play in Minors. DLL isn’t ready for this change.

o Majors – We are not sure what we want to do, since there aren’t enough girls playing at this level. We are working through this as we see how many girls signup. •

Baseball Bat Regulations o USA baseball (National governing body for baseball) requires all new bats for all baseball players MP and up. o Old TBall bats require a special sticker. DLL has purchased stickers and will apply them for any TBall player using a bat without the new USA baseball logo.

Concession Stand o The concession stand will be open for the Spring season, but will not have as many items as last year since there will only be 4 teams playing at Mill Creek at a given time. May offer a little more on big weekends. o Removed buyout option for this year.

Other Notes o Practices determined by Coach’s, but likely to start week of or after Spring Break. o We will have enough kids for at least 1 or 2 Juniors baseball teams. o Flower sale will be available online this year.
