Have you ever played Brazil? Introduction “Have you ever played Brazil?” This chant may be familiar to opponents of Exeter City FC, heard from the terraces during matches at home and away. However, the story behind Exeter’s historic football match has, until recently, been relatively unknown. The Brazilian national football team is the only team to have played in every FIFA World Cup tournament, and is the most successful national team, having won the competition on five occasions. In 2014, they celebrate their centenary by hosting the World Cup. One hundred years since forming their first national team; One hundred years since their first match; One hundred years since they faced Exeter City. This exhibition reveals the circumstances which led to the historic match, the eventful story of Exeter’s tour and the ongoing connection which exists between the teams.
