Diversity & Inclusion Committee Awards Purpose: 1

USTA Northern California is committed to promoting and developing tennis growth and participation in all communities and to creating an organization that is more inclusive. To that end, we offer awards to pay tribute to those who have championed the cause for diversity and inclusion both on and off the tennis court. Award Categories: 1. Mark Manning Icon Award For outstanding leadership and contribution at the national, sectional and local levels of the USTA for advocating, representing and contributing to Diversity & Inclusion issues and strategies.

2. Trailblazer Award- Recognition of an individual, program or organization that goes “Beyond the Baseline” and has been a pioneer/ innovator in forging new paths in the multicultural, LGBT, people with disabilities and/or coaching tennis communities.

3. Leadership Award Recognition of an individual, program or organization for a proven significant and outstanding leadership in the coaching, mentoring and/or volunteerism in the multicultural, LGBT and/or people with disabilities tennis communities.

4. Service Award Recognition of an individual, program or organization for lifelong service and/or groundbreaking service and for having made a significant impact on the lives of others in an organization/ program, individual and in the multicultural, LGBT and people with disabilities tennis communities. a. Should have successful program(s) through which targeted youth and/or adults gain access to organized tennis. b. The individual or program donates considerable time and/or financial resources to the development of participants in their pursuits both on and off court. c. The individual or program has made a positive impact on the community. d. The individual or program emphasizes the importance of discipline, self-esteem, education, community service, responsibility and diversity.

USTA NorCal Diversity Scholarships-Guidelines

Award winners will be presented with an individual crystal award in recognition of his/her achievements at the USTA NorCal ACES Awards (Awards Celebrating Excellence in Service) held in late January.
