ABOUT THE NECVA: The North East Collegiate Volleyball Association, the largest Division III men’s volleyball conference in the United States, celebrates its 10th anniversary during the 2004 season. Founded in 1995 as the Metro Conference, it became known as the NECVA in 1998. Currently comprised of 32 colleges and universities stretching from New Hampshire to Virginia, M.I.T. and SUNY-New Paltz joined the league this year to reach the current membership figure. The league is divided into four smaller divisions: CUNY (8), Metro (7), New England (10), and Western (7). Each week, coaches from the four divisions nominate athletes and then vote for the divisional Player and Rookie of the Week awards. The conference sports information office then selects the NECVA Player and Rookie honors from each of these four divisional winners. The NECVA holds an annual 12-team conference tournament each April with the top three schools in each division earning berths. Gerard Aro, the driving force behind the #4 ranked Stevens In a rare sweep of the conference awards for Stevens Tech, Scott Ducks (10-1), is the NECVA Player of the Week for the first time in Stoner played an important role in a 5-0 week for the #4 ranked his career after dispersing 13.31 assists per game en route to MVP Ducks. The 6-foot-2 Stoner is a force to contend with at the net, both honors at the Stevens Invitational Tournament. He amassed 173 in five offensively and defensively. He posted 34 kills and only seven errors matches Saturday and Sunday as the Ducks swept to the champion- in 52 swings for the week to hit .519, and was equally as impressive ship of the Stevens Invitational Tournament with wins over Lehman, blocking, having a hand in 22 rejections for a 1.47 average as Stevens NJCU, Emmanuel, Ramapo, and Mount St. Vincent. He posted 47 won the Stevens Invitational Tournament. He added 13 kills (13-2-17) assists and 13 digs against Ramapo and 59 assists versus CMSV. and a .657 average in the tournament final against Mount St. Vincent.

Marc Meo averaged 3.00 kills and 3.63 digs per game as York began its season. The 5-11 hitter turned in his best effort of the week with 20 kills and 18 digs in a five-game loss to Villa Julie. He contributed 10 kills and 12 digs in a loss to SUNY-New Paltz. The Haiti native hit .266 in his three matches.

Baruch freshman Greg Waldvogel averaged 3.00 kills, 3.93 digs and 4.36 points per game while serving 1.21 aces for the 1-5 Bearcats. He had 17 kills, 19 digs, and four aces against Wentworth in the Stevens Invitational Tournament on Saturday, and later added 24 digs and three aces in a loss to Ramapo. He finished the week with 11 digs and seven aces against Mount St. Vincent. He defended 55 digs in his four matches this week.
