0:60 What Matters Most AS RECORDED

SCENE We open on a shot of our hero boy sitting on the edge of a lawn holding a hockey stick. As he waits for his dad, an adult and child pass in the distance. Cut to an aerial shot of a pick-up truck driving down a dirt road surrounded by trees. The pick-up truck pulls into the driveway of a rural home. Cut to inside a home where a boy cracks the home’s front door, turns his head back inside and yells “Dad, Mom’s home!” The mother, a tree pruner who is home from a day’s work grabs her thermos and lunch can from the back of her truck that is full of evergreen branches. From the mother’s POV we see her son, with a big smile on his face. The mother and son hug. The mom rubs the sons head, and lovingly puts her head to his. Cut to our hero kid standing at the end of a suburban driveway with his hands in his pockets. He looks both ways down the street to see if his dad is on the way. Cut to a blue fishing boat pulling into the wharf of a small fishing village. The ships’ captain can also be seen waving from the back of the boat. Cut to the mother and young daughter waiting on the wharf on the opened tailgate of their pick-up truck. The daughter, surrounded by her mother’s coat to stay warm in the breeze, hops down from her mother’s lap. Yelling “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy,” the daughter and father run to each other. The dad picks up his daughter and hugs her. Cut back to our hero kid. He looks sad as he waits with his mother. She reassuringly pats his head and rubs his shoulder. Cut to our health care worker entering her apartment. She smiles and kisses her real estate agent husband as he heads out the door to show some property. Cut back to our hero kid, he looks disappointed. Cut to a welder entering through the front door of middle-class home. He greets his two teenagers (boy and girl) who are parked on a couch. The boy is playing with a Nintendo DS. The girl is texting away on a cell phone. They both look over unenthusiastically to acknowledge dad’s arrival and go back to what they’re doing. The dad shrugs knowingly and then bends to greet the family dog that happily bounds toward him. Cut to the mother anxiously waiting in the kitchen. She looks concerned. The phone rings and she walks over to answer it.

Cut to a young fast food worker being picked up by her dad who is on his way home from the office. Cut back to our hero boy. He is playing hockey by himself in his driveway. Cut back to the fast food worker and her father. As she jumps into the car, he playfully points out that she has forgotten to take off her hairnet. They both laugh and she takes it off. Cut to our Hero mother. She is standing on the doorstep watching as her husband, who is finally home from work. Carrying his hard hat and thermos, he walks into the driveway. The mother looks relieved. The boy, still playing hockey in the back of the driveway looks back and spots his father and drops his hockey stick. The boy runs and jumps into his father’s arms.
