Sunday, July 17, 2011 1. Missionaries in Focus Brooke and David Daniel – MTW, Peru Brooke and David have been in language school in Costa Rica for the past nine months as they prepare to minister in Cusco, Peru. David is the team leader for the five families that have committed to pioneer this ministry in Cusco, focusing on evangelism and discipleship of Peruvian medical students and providing mercy medical care to the Quechua people. Pray for God to give them wisdom in many details as they transition: housing, transitioning their family again, and fixing their eyes on Christ and what he has called them to. David, Brooke, Anna Grace, Eliza, and Caleb will get to visit us in August for a short time before they leave for Peru. 2. Weddings We congratulate Mary Bethany [Owen] and Christopher Caraza who were married on July 9 in Augusta; and Michelle Leann [Hawkins] and Mark Alan Stephens, Jr. who were married on July 9 in Augusta. 3. Christian Sympathy Christian sympathy is extended to Vicki and Donald Shapiro and family on the death of Donald’s father, Harold Shapiro, on Monday, July 11, in Augusta. 4. Holy Communion The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be administered in the 6:30 p.m. service tonight. As you experience the mercy of God through his sacraments we invite you help provide for deeds of mercy within and beyond the congregation by giving to the Diaconate Mercy Fund. You may use the pew envelope or write a check, clearly indicating that your gift is for the Diaconate Mercy Fund. 6. Mercy Ministry The Diaconate Mercy Ministry was created to help live out the challenge of 1 John 3:7-9 to serve and provide for others in the context of our local church family. Throughout the year, monies are collected to be used to relieve the burdens and hearts of those in our fellowship with financial need. If you or anyone you know could be helped by this ministry of the Deacons, please make your Parish Elder or Deacon aware of the need, or contact your class Elder or other class leader. All requests are handled with the confidentiality and sensitivity they deserve. 7.
