Greetings from the Land of Gators, Hurricanes and Endless Summer! Every body of water has the potential to have an Alligator; we’re always looking for one. We finally saw one while on an airboat ride in the headwaters of the Everglades.

While Tawni (our first visitor) was here we went for an airboat ride.

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:12

Hurricane Irma had a big impact on us; we decided to ride out the storm and discovered it was no different than going through typhoons in the Philippines. Val recently saw “Endless Summer” on a Florida license plate and realized just how true those words are. In mid-October the temperatures were hovering around the mid-90s! Sometimes we don’t really believe that we are living in the States! Where are the seasons?  Scripture Celebration Recently, Wycliffe had a Scripture Celebration, they do this a couple times a year at the headquarters here in Orlando. This is the first time that we have been here to be a part of this wonderful celebration. A parade of children dressed in clothing from countries all over the world march down the center aisle carrying God’s Word in many different languages. It is such a beautiful moment to see what projects have been completed this past year. Some were whole Bibles, some were only the New Testament, some singular books of the Bible, and some children’s books of Bible stories. Each project comes with a lot of dedication, prayer, and years of work, it was truly amazing to be a part of this celebration. Our New Ministries Nate has already attended one conference and helped with two programs. The first was The Wycliffe Connection, the same program we participated in back in July and some of our friends from the Philippines were a part of that week. The second was Equip, a two-week training for new Wycliffe members, many of them were following God’s calling to go overseas for the first time. It was an incredible group of individuals and we are so excited to have them as members with Wycliffe. Recently, he was working in a third program, Wycliffe Stateside Connection; this is for our members working remotely in the U.S. Lastly, he finished October with another Wycliffe Connection.

Val continues to work with her team of Faith Academy Global Recruiters. She is learning a lot about the art of recruiting and where to look for the best possible servants. She has made several phone calls and had some promising conversations with potential teachers and boarding home parents.

We’re in Our New Home! We moved into our rental house on October 5; and are slowly finding furniture to make this house feel like home. We were able to bring many of our favorite Philippines art pieces with us back to the U.S.; and seeing the familiar pictures will quickly make our new house feel like home. There are still have some furniture pieces we need to find, but we have been blessed by generous new friends who have helped us out.

We Found a Home Church! We are so excited to be a part of Nona Church now. It’s a church plant, only 3 years old this October, but their vision is exactly what we want to be a part of. They want to be more than just a group of people who meet together on a Sunday in a YMCA to worship, they desire to live in the community and encourage their congregation to truly be a light to the community. The kids have settled into the Sunday School program well and are enjoying it.
