1. Slender Loris
Long, thin legs and big, round eyes characterize this nocturnal primate species. They are very meticulous in approach and move slowly to catch their prey. About the size of a chipmunk, Slender Loris live for 12-15 years on
an average. The unique trait about these primates is that they rub their urine all over their face, hands, and feet to attract their favorite food items like roaches and toxic beetles. Well played Loris, well played!
2. Walking Leaf / Leaf Insect
Blessed with a natural camouflaging ability, the Walking Leaf can easily escape or trick the predators while simultaneously attracting its prey. If its leafy look was not enough, this insect also has the ability to sway back and forth like a leaf and have some fun. Are you jealous?
3. Sea Pig
Looking at them, one would feel that they are a cross between pigs and slugs, but Sea Pigs actually are a genus of deep-ocean sea cucumbers. They live at the depths of the oceans and scavenge the ocean floors for any organic stuff they can thrive on. They use their tube feet to move while their tentacles help them push the food inside their mouth.
4. Mantis Shrimp
Mantis Shrimp is an incredibly beautiful crustacean that is sure to impress you with its vibrant body. They use their colorful texture to camouflage in bright coral areas. Besides having powerful claws that can pack a punch as strong as a 22-calibre bullet, this creature has the best eyesight on earth. Oh, I want to take them home...
5. Glass Frog
Spotted primarily along the rivers and streams in Central and South America, glass frogs are hardly 1.2 - 3 inches in length. They get their name for the interesting transparent abdominal sides that expose their gastrointestinal tract and other internal organs beneath their skin, including eggs if any.
6. Pink Fairy Armadillo
That layered, pale pink shield on its head and torso give it such a distinct and cute look, isn't it? This nocturnal animal is just 4 inches in length and has weird sharp claws that enable it to swim through sand just below the surface.
7. Star Nosed Mole
The Star Nosed Mole is apparently the fastest eating mammal, which is functionally blind and is basically smaller than an average mole. This unusual animal has 11 pairs of pink fleshy appendages that sprout from its snout and have more than 25,000 sensory receptors to help this mole with its sense of touch and smell and compensate for its blindness.
8. Spiny Orbweaver Spider
Having a vibrant shell with bright spines protruding from it, the Spiny Orbweaver Spider is also known as crab spider in some areas. According to scientists, the shape and colors of these spiders have evolved to protect it from predators because otherwise they are not dangerous and their bite causes just a little irritation and no major problems. Besides, they are quite small in size with larger ones measuring just about 10-13 mm in length.
9. Tapir
What appears to be a cross between an anteater and a pig, is actually a close family member of horses and rhinos. Characterized by rounded rumps, oval tipped ears, and stubby tails, Tapir has a set of 44 teeth and usually feeds on berries, leaves, and fruits. They have an incredible speed and a hefty size (an adult male can weigh up to 700 pounds) that keeps most of the predators away. However, two of the four species of Tapir are on the endangered list and may soon fade away from the face of earth.
10. Stick Bug / Stick Insect
If you are thinking that we have simply glued together some random sticks and shaped them to resemble an insect, then you are wrong, bud! This is an actual living creature known as a Stick Bug or Stick Insect or even as Ghost Insect. Its stick like body acts as a camouflage to protect it from stronger predators and helps it in hiding anywhere in trees and plants. Just like the Walking Leaf, the stick bugs also have the tendency to sway like branches in the winds and feel at home wherever they are.
