Union Baptist Men’s Choir May I Go Now? May I Go? May I go now? Do you think the time is right? May I say good-bye to pain-filled days and nights? I've lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be. So can I take that step beyond and set my spirit free? I didn't want to go at first, I fought with all my might. But something seems to draw me now to a warm and loving light. I want to go. I really do. It's difficult to stay. But I will try as best I can to live just one more day, To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears. I know you're sad and so afraid, because I see your tears. I'll not be far, I promise that, and hope you'll always know that my spirit will be close to you, wherever you may go. Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too. That's why it's hard to say good-bye and end this life with you. So hold me now, just one more time and let me hear you say, because you care so much for me, you'll let me go today.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:28-31

Today is a day of thanksgiving! On this day we remember, we honor and we celebrate the essence of living that characterized Elnora Hill Roberts in her lifetime. In these measured moments, we give prayerful thanks for this woman. Today is a day we remember providential favor in the life of Hoyt Eugene Hill and Ora Estelle Sanders Hill. On December 30, 1926, in Commerce, Georgia, God gave them a daughter they named Elnora. For the blessing, lineage and legacy of this birth, we give thanks. Today is a day we revisit Elnora’s day of preparation to adulthood and we praise God for her faith. Elnora was educated in Davie County School System. She accepted Christ and joined Union Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years as president of the Usher Board Ministry until her health started declining. Today is a day we point out the many works she has done. Elnora worked at Dixie Furniture for many years until she retired. She help raised her grandchildren and loved them dearly. During the summer time you could find her on the porch with a phone waving or talking to her dear friends of many years. Today is a day we reflect on the other family members who have gone on before. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Walter Roberts; four sons, Lincoln S., Norris A., Thomas H. and Grover L. Roberts; a great grandson, Jayden Conner; two brothers, Dewey Hill and Arree Hill and a sister, Girie Martin. For this we give thanks. Today is a day we pause to pay reverent respect for what took place on Friday evening, December 13, 2013, with Elnora’s transition to immortality. It is a day when understandable hurt runs deep within the hearts of her three sons, James Levon Roberts, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC, Lester Pernell (Marilyn) Roberts of High Point, NC and Anthony B. Roberts of the home; two daughters, Linda Faye Roberts of Lexington and Toni Gail Roberts of the home; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Almma (King) Bailey, Magalene Hill both of Lexington and Mary Ann White of Cooleemee, NC; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Hill, Stella (Paul) Baker both of Lexington and Julie Boler of Winston-Salem and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. But more than the valley of their sorrow today, it is a day of thanksgiving for her victory in Jesus. Leading us to our seats, watching the congregation, caring for the flock from the back of the sanctuary, from the aisles, sharing the joy of worship the community of believers one bulletin, one smile, one greeting, one handshake at a time… That was Elnora, a true usher .
